Surprisingly practical upgrade for a pair of boots
The UpUGo Elastic No-Tie Shoe Laces turned out to be a surprisingly practical upgrade for a pair of boots. I originally bought them to help my pregnant wife, who was finding it increasingly difficult to bend down and re-tie her shoes. These laces made things much easier for her — once installed, she could slip her boots on and off with almost no effort, and the elastic tension kept them feeling secure without needing to be adjusted. A pleasant bonus was how well the colour matched her existing boots. They blended in neatly rather than looking like an obvious replacement, which isn’t always the case with aftermarket laces. Installation was straightforward. The laces were simple to cut to the right length, and once trimmed, the ends tucked away cleanly so nothing dangled or got in the way. The overall design feels practical and low-maintenance. If you’re looking for a no-tie solution for mobility reasons, convenience, or just to save time, these are a solid, hassle-free option.

Elastic shoe laces
Seem good. My son still struggles with normal tying of shoe laces. I cut these to size easily, because they were quite long for a size 3 kid shoe which isn't a problem. Instructions were a bit small to read. But got around it by taking a photo and expanding the text on the photo. Only problem was I fit the end the wrong way round and struggled to reopen the end (go careful with the little screwdriver as if you slip you'll probably stab yourself). Which in some ways is a good thing because you wouldn't want the end springing apart when you didn't want it to. Looks smart when done. Nice colours.

Easy to use
Easy to put on shoes and to trim for a good fit. Used by a neurodivergent teenager who struggles with laces and works well.

Good product
I have some Shimano cycle shoes that use this lacing principle but the lace locking failed long ago (maybe never worked). This locking clamp works well. In fact if someone would just sell the clamps alone by the packet it would be great.

UpUGo Elastic Shoe Laces — Promised Freedom from Tying, but Not Without Trade-Offs
I replaced my normal shoelaces with these UpUGo elastic, no-tie laces to see if life really gets easier. After wearing them for a while, here’s how they performed — what I liked, what annoyed me, and whether I’d keep them. --- ✅ What Worked / What I Liked No more tying / slipping convenience The whole appeal is that you don’t have to tie your laces — slip on and off easily. That’s real if you just want one step in, one step out. On many listings, they say “never have to tie again.” Snug but forgiving fit The elastic gives some stretch so your feet move naturally. In a review, users say they “provide a snug fit without sacrificing comfort.” One-size / universal / works across shoes The laces are marketed as “one size fits all” and suitable for adult, kids, elderly shoes etc. Time saver for daily wear / ease for kids / mobility For those who don’t want to bend or fiddle with knots (kids, older folks, people with limited dexterity), these laces make a lot of sense. One buyer on a site said: “As I’m disabled it gives me chance to wear my trainers.” --- ⚠️ What Disappointed Me / Weaknesses & Caveats Lock / toggle feels a bit weak The plastic locking mechanism (toggle / stopper) doesn’t always feel rock solid. Under stress, there’s sometimes slight slipping. One user mentioned the plastic toggle is a bit weak. Elastic “give” can reduce tightness over time After extended use, elastic may stretch slightly so the shoes feel less tight than at first. If your shoes require precise tightness (running, sports), that becomes noticeable. Appearance / look is different Because these are not classic laces, in some shoes they may look “off” or looser than the original laces, especially dress or tighter silhouettes. Installing / adjusting can be finicky Getting the right tension and having it uniform across all eyelets takes trial and error. If one side is a bit loose, it feels unbalanced. Durability concerns under wear & tear With dirt, friction, moisture, elastic materials degrade. There may be fraying, stretches, or loss of elasticity over time. --- 🧾 My “Lace Life” Story I installed these UpUGo laces on my everyday sneakers. First few days: they felt great — slip in, slip out, no fuss. Over time, I noticed: At the end of the day, one shoe felt ever so slightly slacker (elastic gave a bit). In rainy / muddy conditions, the toggle and elastic got dirty, making small adjustments a bit stiffer. After a few weeks I saw tiny frays near the toggle junctions. When lacing them through many eyelets, finding the perfect tension required several tries. One of the review sites says they “reduce the risk of tripping or accidents” because no undone laces. That’s true in theory — but if the elastic becomes loose over time, you might get sloppier fit. --- 🎯 Final Verdict & Rating I’d rate UpUGo Elastic Shoe Laces 3 out of 5 stars. They’re useful and convenient for many — especially for casual wear, for people who dislike tying or have mobility issues. But don’t expect them to rival performance laces in tightness or longevity. If your use is light-to-moderate, they’ll do well. If you need more durable, high-strain performance (running, hiking, heavy shoes), they might show their weaknesses faster.
