A sophisticated coffee that is grown in the Blue Mountain District of Jamaica, Jamaica Blue Mountain is a wet processed (washed) coffee that is silky smooth and well-balanced, with an excellent full body, a classic and refined mild taste with a slightly (and unusually) sweet flavor, very rich (sometimes almost creamy). The taste is complex, and often often with hints of chocolate. A good Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee, despite how smooth and mild it tastes, exhibits a bright and vibrant yet smooth acidity, a clean taste with virtually no bitterness, and a bold yet sparkling aroma with a profusion of floral notes and sweet herbal and nutty overtones. At its best, Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee produces the quintessential cup of coffee that is one of the world’s top premium gourmet coffees. The certified Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee-growing estates are located at elevations between 3,000 feet (914 meters) and and 5,500 feet (1,676 meters) above sea level, while lesser Jamaican coffees are grown at lower elevations – Jamaica High Mountain is grown between 1,500 and 3,000 feet and Jamaica Supreme/Jamaica Low Mountain is grown below 1,500 feet. You know when you first get the bag of coffee and you open it, the coffee is supposed to "Overwhelm" you .. I wasn't overwhelmed .. I smell just fine but it wasn't dark roasted .. It was a medium dark and it had no oils on the beans .. I know why many coffee makers don't leave the oil on the bean .. The oils rancify quickly and the powerful zest leaves the coffee especially if it sits in a warehouse for any length of time .. This is true only IF the coffee maker doesn't use dry nitrogen to pure the coffee bags before sealing .. The coffee was above average (not saying much there) but not up to my standards .. I may have to buy an old air popcorn popper and inject a small amount of steam so will have the freshest coffee .. For the average person who isn't a coffee snob, which I am, I still haven't been able to find any coffee yet that is actually better than my favorite Yemeni peaberry dark roast oily bean coffee ..

Undoubtably the best Blue Mountain coffee I have purchased at Amazon at the lowest cost per lb. The aroma is out of this world and the taste is "heavenly".

beans are oily
did not expect these beans to be oily, compared to the other blue mountain coffee i had before. still great tasting coffee. just needed to clean my grinder more since it is oily and the build up of that oil isn't great on the grinder
