Fair value
I purchased this rack to use on my Peterbilt truck tractor so I had a secure place for my commute bike. I mounted the rack right behind the cab transversely. It took me several weeks from purchase to actual instal due to incorrect fasteners in the box. The screws holding the wheel trays were too short. Getting in touch with Malone was somewhat of a hassle, first by email, followed up with a phone call. The phone worked. Upon actual contact they were responsive and sent the correct fasteners. This cost one star.I am not impressed with the size and grade of mounting fasteners or the way the mount is configured. This cost the other star. To be honest it has so far stayed in place securely. Due to my application I will likely have to replace the fasteners annually.Overall I am happy and would purchase again. Seems a fair value for the money and works as expected in function.

Early delivery, sturdy, fits all bikes (XL frames, carbon frames, +/Fat tires, best VALUE!
This mount arrived early, intact, and as I unboxed it I knew I would keep it...the parts/materials were top-notch. I looked and searched for used mounts that could handle an XL frame (longer wheelbase than most bikes), and +_size tires (3"); this was the only one, inc Thule and Yakima, either of which I'd have been willing to purchase for more at the time, but glad I didn't. It just cant really get any better than this. Because of it's universality, I won't have to change to different racks next time I get a newer car. This fits my BMW GT w/no problem, and by design will fit ANYTHING w/Crossbars; great design. Took it for a trip and went down unpaved, bumpy roads while it held the XL bike really well, so there would be even less wiggle w/smaller bikes. Love that it's local from Maine, as well. One wish is that the instruction sheet had better zoom/blow-ups for the initial assemble, as the bolts going into the large plastic mounts was a bit unclear; see pics). Also, maybe it's just me as this is my 1st time using a roof rack, but the wing-nut/bolt/plate that mount the rack to a crossbar, I just feel like everything depends on that, and they were thinner than expected, but they are strong, and if they even come close to failing, I will LYK!Assembly was still less than 45 minutes (w/my 6-y/o ADHD dtr "helping" me!, i.e., that probably cost me 15 minutes). Basically, if you can't tell, I love this thing, and if more people took note, the other biggies (Y & T) would have to drop their prices, and low-end makers (Swag...) would have to up their game. Get it; I may buy another one, too...

UPDATE: MFG helped me out...BUYER BEWARE....and good luck
UPDATE:Well the manufacturer kept up with their word. They replaced the parts that I requested. Therefore I have changed the 1 star to 3.Well everything was good until I past the 30day return feature. Same as all contacted the vendor and the Amazon vendor (Fogdog) suggested to go to the manufacture. (No answer yet.)Look at the small crack that appeared. Why would I give more stars if I cannot use it.......They had a chance to make it right when I contacted them. That’s why you don’t make a review till you try it.BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!I will change this review if anything changes

Quality cost, not quality product
Bought this rack in January of this year. First rack arrived broken and was replaced. We'll the replacement came with missing bolts, but I had what I needed to fit to the car anyway. Well 4 months later the metal portion pictured sheered off and I almost lost my bike. Now I am a 5 hour drive from my house with no bike rack. I shouldn't have to replace a bike rack every four months, the quality of this product is below substandard and I will not be purchasing this brand again

Used for one weekend
I used this to transport my bike during an overnight camping trip. I took and brought my bike just fine during this trip. Later that day I bought a bike for my wife and mounted it to the rack. I almost got it home when the bike fell over after the front wheel carrier broke. Luckily I was just 2 blocks from home. As of right now, I do not see any damage to both car or bike.

Not compatible with 28c tires
Solid rack and very reasonable price but I just found slices in the side walls of my 28c tires ... probably put an end to tomorrow's race.

nice rack for the price
Tight but good fit on the first trip with my 4.8 inch bud/lou. Not a lot of movement. Good fat bike rack for the price

Does Not Securely Hold Bike in Place
First things first. Compared to the big name bike carriers, I was attracted to this by the price and by the wheel mounting - no damage to our carbon fiber frames. Seemed like a great deal! Then...1. Assembly instructions are POOR.2. Hardware which attaches wheel receptacles to the track will NOT stay tight on long drives. As a result, the wheel receptacles pop off the track - I had two carbon fiber bikes secured by only one wheel after 200 miles of travel! I subsequently paid extra attention to ensuring the hardware was as tight as possible - same result. Poor design!!!!3. The wheels are held to the wheel receptacles by large rubber bands, which we are informed MUST BE REPLACED YEARLY. No mention of that in the sales literature!4. The mechanism which locks the bike to the rack and provides lateral stability is difficult to tighten, so there is a lot of lateral "play."What I thought was a good deal was NOT a good deal - I am replacing two of these with Thule mounts.
