Must have, if you need to administer subcu fluids
My two bestest furry friends became ill, not late enough in life, and each needed an infusion of lactate of ringers, subcu, daily. My vet bills were already ginormous, adding to that a daily vet tech visit for fluids would've just made a stressful situation worse. (There's also something to be said for the comfort of home, it isn't tangible, but I think it's considerable, at least.)So when you start doing this you notice that, after the first few hundred CCs (of a 1000 CC bag) the stuff barely trickles out of the bag, no matter how high you hang it. This item picks up where gravity fails you. It was very affordable and worked flawlessly in daily use for months, saving me countless hours holding a needle under my dogs' skin. This let us get in and out of our daily chore in minutes, and allowed us to use all of the fluid in the bags. For that I am very thankful this item was available here. One note, the transparent side is, in practice, of little use, because the scale on the bag is useless while it is compressed. When you pump it up, the level goes to the top of the scale no matter how much is left, and the less that is in the bag, the less each tick represents. After a while you just get a feel for it, the time elapsed, the hump of fluid under their skin... there's no real way to measure how much has been dispensed in a session, other than releasing the pressure on the bag. But that's not specific to this item, it is a physics thing.(RIP Jake and Brandy, you are forever in my heart.)
