An improvement
An improvement over the first too books in my opinion. The story is starting to pick up more, and its growing more into a total war.

a fantastic addition to a fantastic series.
This is my favorite literary series so im not exactly the most non-biased sort by this point. But i just cant get over how much i love this series. Aside from the title change in the translation, which im still mad about, the rest of it is handled quite well. This book had some really great twists and did much to build the world/ progress the war. less of our overarching story was addressed but thats fine with me, this definitely wasnt a novel that went nowhere. 5/5 all day

Zen continues to paint a great AU WWI
In Vol 3 of the Light Novel series, Carlo Zen continues to show he has a great understanding of WWI history and tactics, and uses this knowledge to paint a interesting alternative version of the Great War. Personally one of my biggest pet peeves in War Novels is the misunderstanding of tactics, most sides usually run at each other with the occasional flanking attack.Zen implements encirclements, feints, shock and awe, among many other tactics in the series, and clearly understands how mages would impact these tactics. However, I have one modern criticism when it comes to something this novel reveals, I believe cuts to the other dimension with heavenly beings is unnecessary. Showing them plotting against Tanya takes me out of the story, I think it would be a much more interesting dynamic if we didn't know if hardships thrown in Tanya's way was a result of Being X's influence or not. To show Tanya fight with paranoia anytime something comes her way.If this was a shorter part I wouldn't have mind, but it was a nice little sized chunk in a strange location of the novel, which made me mark it down. The Saga of Tanya the Evil is still by far one of my favorite book series I have read, and can't wait to see what Zen puts out next!

I believe in saint Tanya!
The Great war proceeds on its inevitable course toward the empire's destrruction, or does it? The jpker in the deck is still our heroine Tanya the indomitable gard dog from Hell! If she can finally get the respect of her superiors enough to give her some real authority I believe she can salvage a win out of this mess; or at least a negotiated peace!

Can't go wrong with this universe, great character development and a story that just keeps improving with the best translation I've ever found in a light novel

Great Series; Bring on Volume 4
I'm a huge fan of the Anime and subsequently of this light novel series.Incidentally, the Anime ends midway through this text, and is a suitable jumping off point for those who wish to dovetail from the first season of the anime series or forthcoming movie, into the source material without retreading old ground..Even so, I would encourage you to read the prior volumes as well, as they provide more depth on Military Tactics, Philosophy, and Economics, than the Anime was able to muster, good as it was. While others may disagree and call them "boring", I find that these more mature aspects are a large part of what draws me into the show, and are suitable for all ages. You're never too young to learn something beneficial; all the better if it can be delivered in an entertaining way; this is not to say the show and books are propaganda by any means, but they do succeed in driving home the ideologies and personal philosophies of those operating in this alternate universe, which in large part is what makes for such compelling storytelling..Buy the books, buy/stream the Anime, watch the Movie in theater or stream it when it comes out, and wait on the announcement of season 2 with baited breath like the rest of us..Great franchise, and it will not disappoint.

Perfect
Just as the other before it has the most well made books among all the light novels i read so far, and it's in perfect shape aswell, something that barely happens with light novels this days.
