Wrong One!
I bought it to match up to a 1987 mercury 9.9. Wrong One!. This fit a 1994 and up. I am going to keep it in case I get a newer outboard.

2001 Mercury outboard and the barb clip input is too long. Will not lock.

Not for Yamaha made Mariner engines.
Attwood are quality parts, nothing wrong with it. But if you Mariner engine is 40 hp or less, it was probably made by Yamaha. If so, Attwood item 8896LP6 will fit it with 3/8" barb.
