A good flip phone with some good features
This phone is very tough. It has the PTT+ feature run by Verizon, which also makes it a pseudo walkie talkie. The battery that came with it is branded with the Kyocera logo, and lasts 2-3 days before needing to be charged, depending on what features you have turned on, such as: The PTT+ walkie talkie system The Bluetooth feature if you want to use an earpiece The WiFi feature which has both WiFi calling, a handy feature if you are in a bad cell zone but have WiFi access, and it also can be used as a mobile hotspot for your other devices The phone looked like it was brand new when I got it, and everything functions reliably.

Back Cover Screw Doesn't Lock Down
I really like this phone. It does exactly what I wanted it to do, make calls, send texts, play Podcast's, pair with my blue tooth headphones, but I really held a lot of weight in the "rugged" claim. Mine arrived with no screw housing for the battery cover on the back. The screw freely spins and won't lock down because there is nothing to catch on the other end. This means that if you drop the phone the back cover will pop off and most likely the battery. The back cover's water proofing gasket was also broken upon opening the back cover for the first time in the Verizon store. Definitely not living up to the rugged claim. The battery lasts just about a day, which if fine for me, but not the 3-5 days you may expect from a flip phone that you're not really doing anything with all day. The ability to put music and Podcast's on it was very simple and slick for a flip phone. Web browser is functional, but there isn't a way to have active GPS as you go with directions read out loud to you. You can pull up Google Maps, but you have to be able to read them and follow the directions. This also wasn't a problem for me, but something I was curious about. Speaker phone is super loud, which is nice. Call quality in general feels really good. For some reason mine has been attempting and failing to update for the past 3 or 4 days. I love the side button that you can program for whatever you want. As a default it is set to be a "Push to Talk" button, but I changed it to turn on the flash light, which I found comes in handy a lot. It handles group texts, most emojis, picture and video messages well. The camera isn't anything special, but it looks as good as pictures and videos did around 2009 or so, which was fine at the time. My conclusion: I really like the phone. Because of all the hardware and updating issues, I'm going to return this one, and buy a brand new one from Amazon. So far they've handled the return process really well. I'm supposed to be getting an email with a return shipping label in the next couple days.

Great phones if ....
These are great phones if your wife doesn't put it in the deep freezer in a bag from Walmart where you can't find it for 2 weeks... these are great phones if your wife doesn't put it in the washing machine for a full 1 hr cycle, yes these are great phones if she doesn't leave it on the kitchen counter where the cat can scoot it into the trash can and after several days of looking for it you realize tomorrow is trash day I'd better go thru the big trash can outside one more time and get lucky and find it, I've had the same phone for several years and yes they are rugged but there's some things they just can't stand up to. I do highly recommend this phone....

Simple Affordable Durable
I'd resisted upgrading to new cell phone for years until Verizon dropped 3G. To replace my old phone, I wanted something simple and easy to use and without all the bells and whistles. My needs are simple: I make calls and take calls. I don't send email, surf the web, do banking, text, or store contact info and family photos on my phone, I have computers with full sized monitors and keyboards and (gasp) a rolodex and secure digital photo storage. The pluses: large keys, durable, waterproof, affordable, uncluttered with apps, not susceptible to being hacked. The minuses: outdated manual for the unit I bought with several maddingly vague or untrue directions about basic functions, sparse ringtone choices. All in all, this phone is a find.
