Must read text, short and packs a punch
Great book, does a nice job of reminding the faithful what we are doing here. Its easy to get caught up in the world and its chaotic milieu but it can distract from the true purpose....that being Theosis. To sit on the divine council and as Paul said "Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!" (1 Cor. 6:3, NIV). Do not be distracted from your real mission.

A Fantastic Summation of a Key Orthodox Doctrine
The teaching of theosis is what brought me into the Orthodox Church. As Saint Athanasius said, "God became man so that man may become god." Most denominations of Christianity seem to have forgot the intrinsic importance of deification and union with God in the Christian way of life. This book summarizes this intrinsic teaching in a concise way good for those not well acquainted with the intricacies of Orthodox theological terminology without being too simplistic. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in this essential doctrine, wether Orthodox Christian or not.

100% Orthodox
To “John Tripi”: are you even Orthodox? The Orthodox Divine Liturgy honors the Mother of God even more than the catholics, as do all the Orthodox saints. Everything written about her in this book is not even the least bit controversial or debatable from an Orthodox point of view. That you would buy and read this book, and yet harbor some sort of contempt for God’s Holy Mother is bizarre.

An Orthodox Christian "Summa Theologica"
Everyone to whom I have recommended this tiny, simple book agree that it is the most profound tome on the Christian life they have read.

The Point of Theosis is Good, So Stick to The Point, of which catholicism and the cult of Mary Do Not
The title is right. He defines things correctly. He gets off point when he discusses The Cult of Mary and The Catholic Church which have nothing to do with theosis. He gets back on track when pointing to Christ as the reason for Christian theosis. Most of his insights are exciting. But, like so many wishing to be all - embracing to even the opposers of truth, having a form of "godliness", better defined as theosis, but deny its actual life changing power, he gets "politically inaccurate". This is a great little handbook of reference. I do like his insights but I have had to cross out a lot of misaiming when he drags in catholicism and their Mary. The author hits the bullseye on the matter of deification, which is well suited to a lack of understanding here in The West. Christians would do well to read his book as a basic starting point. But, reader beware, Mary and catholicism have nothing today to do with God's transformation work through Christ's resurrection. He provides a dictionary of terms in the back which prove my point that he needs to stick to the point of the title. Becoming all - ecumenical detracts from the truth, which he does well, in this case regarding theosis as God's purpose for Christians.
