Love this book on leadership and initiative. I bought to give to a USAF officer on his promotion. This is a great story to demonstrate the "Get it done" attitude. A must for leaders to have in their library. Good quality paper and durable.

I purchased this book back in May in order to aid in teaching my Officer Candidate School candidates. It was so positiviely received and taught that I would like to get more of them.Does anyone know how I would go about requesting a donation of 10-20 copies of this book for my teaching military doctrine?

Simply put, this cheap hardcover edition of A Message to Garcia has gilded page edges and a nice hardcover for only $8.This is a worthy homage to Hubbard.- JBD

Read many years ago and forgot about it until a recent dream in which I heard the word, "Garcia." When I could not locate the book in my library, I re-ordered it. There was no doubt in my mind I was given strong guidance re: a project I have yet to complete.When war broke out between Spain and the U.S. it was extremely necessary to communicate quickly with the insurgents. Garcia was somewhere in the mountains of Cuba, no one knew where. No mail or telegraph message could reach him. The President must secure his cooperation and quickly. What to do? Someone told the President: "There is a fellow by the name of Rowan who will find Garcia if anyone can."After re-reading my old book I realized the "message" in my dream. It was so obvious and painful to acknowledge because unlike, Lieutenant Rowan I'd been procrastinating for years regarding a project I promised to complete and finalize. Had I been given the 'message to Garcia' he would have never received it.This book would be a wonderful gift to any young person starting out in life. It carries a powerful message. It got through to me; I actually started working on my project!The book was published in 1899 and has been translated and re-translated throughout the world.

Very simple message, but important one. You can read it in about 20 minutes, so just do it. You'll feel better. Also makes a good inexpensive gift for graduates, new hires, etc.

This book is a classic. When I reported to my first assignment as a young Army officer, my company commander had me read this book. I am glad that he did. It is short and to the point. The message of "make it happen" really resonated with me then, and it still does.I recently purchased the book and am having my colleagues at work read it. Most had never heard of it, and appreciated the content. Therefore, I recommend it is a quick read and reminder that the world is in desperate need of people who spend less time complaining, pondering, posturing, posing, back-stabbing, you name it....but actually get things done.

A Message to Garcia is a timeless book, over 100 years old, that can be read in 30 minutes and comprehended over a lifetime of application. It will be my favorite graduation gift from now on. Apply the wisdom in this story and you will rise to the top of whatever you endeavor to do.

great message if you can look past that though. This was a gift from my father, and I will remember the lesson forever
