It won't hurt it to refrigerate it, but it will make it pretty much impossible to squeeze out. It's hard enough when it's room temp.

My cat will eat hairball treats or gel for a little while and then she doesn't like them and won't eat them

My cat sometimes is like that. I think she figures out the medicinal quality and doesn't like it. She really hates to have her hairball processing interfered with. However, she always likes the calming paw gel from Nutrivet. Never fails. She seems to have her own timetable for hairballs. She is a longhaired cat.

Has anyone found a good alternative brand since they changed the formula?

I wasn't aware they'd changed the formula and was about to order more because our long-haired cat is still eating it. I put a dollop on her wet food twice a day, and it disappears with the food. Hint: I also sprinkle a little "pixie dust" (Probiotic) on it and her food.
