Overall effective. It will minimize crystallization in ice creams but best used with a continuous stirring ice cream maker is you want a very smooth ice cream. It will reduce size of the crystals even when the ice cream is just frozen as is, but not as effectively. This isn't the fault of the additive, just physics at work. Slow stirring of the ice cream as it is freezing ensures perfect smooth ice cream. Mouth feel of the ice cream is great, with no after taste of the bean powder.
