Should be called Green Smoothie Habit Workbook
This book is a good introduction to smoothie making with lots of practical advice given in a friendly and accessible manner. There are many blank pages and the most pertinent information is summarized in about ten pages in the appendix. Every day for 28 days you get a new recipe for a smoothie, an inspirational quote, and a space to answer a question, or to make notes on your reaction to the smoothie.The recipes are simple โ just fruit, greens, and water. There are no additives like protein powder, yogurt, flax seeds, etc. in these recipes. This follows Victoria Boutenko the authority on green smoothies. If you want the full science behind green smoothies get her books. They are the best and everybodyโs starting point.Some of the recipes are too sweet, some are bland but they are geared to an absolute beginner and you can use substitutes if you want. What I like about them -there's a good variety of greens and its helpful to establish a basis of rotation and illustrates how to mix different greens with fruits. Itโs so easy to add kale or spinach to a smoothie but this gives 7 different greens in 7 days and explains why you want to do that. You also get a grocery list and the nutritional information on the ingredients.All the work is done for you all you have to do is follow the plan. I am just starting the 28 challenge, but would recommend this to anyone new to green smoothies or with a new Vitamix to get started.

jane's advise on drinking your greens and using the vitamix has been priceless to us
great book and you certainly don't need a vitamix to benefit from the book but here is how we benefited. I bought a vitamix with the intent of making and drinking green smoothies. Even with the instructions and video from vitamix and other green smoothie books I purchased, I still felt confused about both and lost my enthusiasm for drinking my greens and the vitamix sat on the shelf. Then I found Jane's website and I am so grateful for how her videos showed me what the vitamix is really capable of and how to use it. For me this has taken all the confusion out of making green smoothies. I now make green puddings, healthy soup, green smoothies and beauty waters and I know how to make green juice with the vitamix using the nut/milk bag. The recipes in Jane's book are uncomplicated and explain greens so well. It would be enough reason to buy Jane's book if it were just about having better health and mental clarity but it is about so much more.I am so happy because my husband is totally on board with me on this and we have been given the gift of a wonderful anti-aging tool and that is the green smoothie habit. Thank you Jane

While the recipes are good, a great deal of her philosophy is based completely on someone else's somewhat faulty information. She should have looked at more than one information source, and a more up to date source. But, since I really bought the book for the recipes, it's okay.

I love my new habit!
I have never had a relationship with greens, an on and off again affair with fruit, and my blender had never experienced life beyond chocolate chip ice cream and milk! But having tried a green smoothie in the past, I knew they could be delicious. Being a big believer in the power of developing new habits when trying to make a lifestyle change, I was intrigued by the title of this book. So I took the challenge, went hunting for collard greens and kale, and gave it a whirl! At the end of the 28 days I can honestly say that I feel more energetic, my moods are more stable and I look forward to my smoothie every day! And I have had fun sharing many of them with colleagues at work. I am not saying I have given up on my ice cream but I love adding my greens to my diet. Thank you Jane...I feel better than I have in a long time.

LOVE YOU JANE!!
I absolutely cannot say enough about this book! Jane Haddad is a superstar! I watch every video she puts out on youtube and when I saw that she had a book available on AMAZON.COM I had to race to get it. Jane will give you no nonsense ways to make great tasting smoothies that are good for you and simple to make. I love my VitaMix and Jane has given me the perfect gift via these amazing, simple recipes. If your the least bit curious, BUY THE BOOK! You will NOT be disappointed. Thank you Jane! Keep on VitaMixing!!

Not What I Expected
The book is o.k. I wished the author had used more smoothie recipes from her website. The book's outside cover is eye catching but inside there should have been colored pictures of the various smoothies (that would have made the content more appealing).

Luscious Lumen Wisdom and Compassionate encouragement! Jane's incredible combination!
Jane, you are a gift! And you have a gift of inspiring while being so human and humane and compassionate and understanding of the challenges of being healthy -- in body and mind. This book is fantastic! I'm 9 days in and more inspired every day! It's a beautiful book to look at; it's so well organized and so user friendly. And your words, Jane! So wise, so encouraging. And of course, the recipes and wisdom about lumen! Thank you!

Tooooooooo many sugars
How could I be the only one who hated this book!My first pet peeve is that it could have been a pamphlet - big pic. of greens, lot of empty lines to write your thoughts, one sentence affirmations (written very large) that take up a entire page, flourishes on pages (yep, just a flurish) and more lines for you to write!But my main irritation was amount of sugars in a smoothie- on day 2- add 4 cups of Apple juice.... That's 28 grams of sugar a cup!!!!!!! Day 6- add 3 cups of blueberries, 4 bananas......of course there are 2-3 leaves of greens but just think of the sugars. These are just the biggies in week one. I bought this book in hopes of helping (my self of course) my diebetic husband! But I couldn't even offer him a sip! I'm not a dietitian - but I sure don't think these drinks are healthy!

Really helpful book. Smoothies with no foam! Hurrah.
