Delicious short cut to fill your craving!
I was a bit worried based on other reviews… My craving for tteokbokki won and I decided to take a risk. I’m glad I did! I inspected the package upon arrival and they were fine. No signs of mold or any odd smells. Now I did use all three packages because I was cooking for the family, so I can’t speak as to how these would do on longer term pantry storage. I opened all the packages and soaked the rice cakes in warm water for about 10 minutes, as I did the food prep and made the sauce. Then I rinsed them with cold water and strained. I didn’t experience any splitting or cracking. I made a rose tteokbokki with heavy cream, and used bacon and mini sausages instead of fish cakes - as we have folks that can’t do seafood in the household. I didn’t boil the tteokbokki long, maybe 5 minutes. I kept checking their texture as I stirred and determined that time frame produced the chewy level that I wanted. Dinner was a big success! I would purchase these again in the future.

2 of my 3 packages had mold
I wanted to try these because one of the YouTube channels that I watched showed a person in Korea going to different places and trying almost everything on their menu. Tteokbokki was always her favorite because it reminded her of her parents. She loved them so much I thought that it would be nice to try since I am trying to cut down on the gluten but.....I wish I had taken a picture but I was so grossed out. I opened my first package and where you could not see the product( under the colored portions of the package) there was mold. I am not talking a little there was a lot. I opened the second package and it was the same thing. The third package seemed fine but when I cooked them according to the package they were mushy on the outside and the inside was not soft. It was not hard either. Nonetheless, it ruined my dinner plans. My husband did the amazing thing of eating and not complaining about the texture until I said something. If I could give negative stars I would. It made my first time trying Tteokbokki a very disappointed one.
