You have to buy the battery separate. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Q: Can this be charged with the dc18ra charger that i use with my drill 18v battery?

Sorry, the answer is “no”. I have both and the chargers do t accept the different battery sizes. Marital needs to make a trimmer that takes the 18 volt battery.
