I was really excited to get this book
I really love the idea of this book. I wish that the underlying theme didn’t focus on alopecia as a negative condition to have. My daughter is in 5th grade and she has alopecia universalis. We are constantly reinforcing that hair does not define you, nor do you need it. She is proud and confidently walks around bald every day of her life. So lines that say, “it doesn’t fill me with glee” or talking about wigs as an “option to feel girly” are not reinforcing that confidence. It also asks the little girl in the story about how she will stop people who “say nasty things”, basically implying that it is a given that it will happen. My daughter is the one who pointed that out, asking why it’s in there. I realize how detrimental getting alopecia can be to a persons self esteem, and mental health. This may just reflect the authors experience, but that doesn’t have to be the case.I really am not trying to pick this book apart. There needs to be more alopecia childrens books! It is a wonderful book with great intentions. It is just that subtle messaging can influence the children reading it. I wish it focused more on empowerment and how differences such as alopecia are beautiful.

This book is fantastic for any child living with alopecia
This book is fantastic for any child living with alopecia. The author creatively shares the experience of hair loss and how it feels, along with the bond of friendship that is so helpful when struggling with looking different. The rhythm of the writing is a lot of fun when reading aloud. This would be a great book for anyone who needs help explaining "difference" with their children, in the classroom for teachers, and especially in the home library of any child who has alopecia.

Good read aloud for those not familiar with the condition
Starting with an interesting approach, this title gives plenty of information about Alopecia, which those younger students unfamiliar with the condition, could use.

This book
It's a good informative book. It could have used a bit more for kids, but I live that it was about how people can be different and it's okay. The price is WAY to high, but great idea for the book. Congrats to the writer and artist.

Amazing Book ❤️
My daughter is in 3rd Grade and was just diagnosed with AA. She was struggling at school and we purchased this book for her to read to her class to explain AA. The kids loved the book and the book empowered my daughter. The kids had a wonderful response after and my daughter felt so much better after reading it and telling her class. She loved the rhyming in the book as well.

Celebrating differences
This is a lovely book sharing a gentle introduction to Alopecia. My 5 year old really listened and asked questions. He wondered if Hannah’s hair would grow back and would like a second book to show the older Hannah to see how her story continues.

A must read!
A brilliant book written by a talented writer! The story cleverly explains what alopecia is and how it can make the person with it feel. It’s a joy to read and I can’t wait to read it to my own class - spreading the awareness of alopecia!
