UPDATE TO PREVIOS 3 STAR REVIEW: Originally, I rated the knife at 3 stars. I did get contacted by the seller and they offered me a full refund, so customer service and satisfaction gets 5 stars! As far as the knife after sharpening and playing with it, it's a keeper. They have a special going at the time of my second review, which I could have returned and bought, but too much hassle in my opinion!!! This knife is heavy compared to the other long blade knives I use (there are two long knives I use on a regular basis for chopping along with the two utility knives). I used it for chopping and slicing through things. For chopping, I probably will use my other knives, the motion to do chopping with this knife is different because the blade is curved (not picking on the knife, I have issues with my hands and wrists due to carpel tunnel and arthritis, so the motion to chop with this knife is a bit awkward for me). For heavy duty work, this knife is great. It has bumped to the top for doing the heavy duty work. I tried cutting the husk off of a young coconut, cut through Cartlidge and cut open Lobster shell on the extreme sides successfully. The knife didn't fare too well in cutting ripe/soft/juicy fruits in my opinion, so I'll stick to my utility knives for such tasks. I tried twirling the knife the way they do it in the commercials/ads, but I couldn't do it on my index finger, my pinky seemed to be the right size for the twirling, but I don't have any control when I twirl the knife with my pinky!!!! Overall, I'll give the knife a 4 to a 4.5 grade, their customer puts them closer to 5. OLD REVIEW: Packing is cute; they try to make opening the box feel like opening an iPhone package. I like the handle and the hole in the blade. From the description the knife was supposed to be razor sharp and of course Japanese. The knife is made in China and the blade was dull. I ended up sharpening the blade for couple of minutes to cut a tomato properly. Out of the box, the blade probably couldn’t cut through milk! As far as sharpness out of the box, my Victorinox and cheap Daiso knives were sharp right out of the box. I’ll play with this couple of more weeks and update my review! So far, it’s a meh!
