Passed the ice water test. However the lid that holds the thermometer is ready to fall off.
I like the accuracy like I said it passed the ice water test perfectly. However when I took it out of the package and unscrewed the top I noticed the top was loose. It actually moves around unlike my old one at this point I’m a little afraid to use it as it might brake the glass. I would very much appreciate a replacement.

Excellent Pocket Thermometer
I purchased both this Fahrenheit thermometer and the dual Centigrade/Fahrenheit thermometer (ASIN B00551OH8A) which are the same size and with the same temperature range (0 to 220 F or -10 to 110 C). This thermometer has only the Fahrenheit scale and because of this the scale labels are larger and easier to read. Since it is so easy to convert F to C, I prefer this model over the dual reading model. The scale font is 3/16 inch high and "bold", compared to the 2/16 inch "fine font" for the dual scale model . . . visually, this is a significant difference in readability. The blue versus red fluid of other thermometers seems to be only a color difference and I see no difference in readability. The thermometer has an aluminum protective sleeve with a sliding pocket clip. The cap has a ring for a lanyard (not supplied). The overall length of the thermometer in its protector is 6 3/8 inches; outside the protector it is 6 inches; the scale itself is 3 1/8 inches. The glass is thick making for a sturdy, less breakable thermometer and the white backing makes for easy reading. Accuracy of 2 degrees F is reasonable for a short, pocket thermometer.I use the thermometer in the field for measuring water temperatures of streams and lakes and its protective sleeve and small size makes it very convenient. I would recommend it as a take-along thermometer as long as the temperature range and accuracy are adequate for your purpose.

Handy last word thermometer
I Like electronic thermometers but always question the accuracy. Here’s something easy to take with the electronic thermometers and can easily convince myself or others of their accuracy.

Developed a bubble making it confusing to read
I found this to be pretty accurate when measured against an accurate digital thermometer. But I used this thermometer approximately 20 times and it has now developed a bubble making it difficult to determine the temperature.

Simple, functional, calibrated and ships well protected.
Although mine came in purple, this is a nice, calibrated, easy to read thermometer with a temperature range that's relevant for household use. For example, I purchased a refrigerator thermometer from Rubbermaid and used this thermometer to verify the refrigerator temperature (the Rubbermaid was +2 degrees off). The thermometer is fairly quick to read temperature and the blue liquid against the white scale (with black numbering) is easy to read, so it allows you to make a quick and accurate temperature reading.Although the actual thermometer is glass (so this isn't a good item for young children!) the thermometer comes shipped in sealed bubble wrap packet which contains a sealed plastic, vacuum formed carrier. Once you open both of these disposable items, the actual thermometer is still protected by its plastic sheath which connects to the top end of the thermometer itself so it won't fall off. As you can see from the product picture, the plastic end piece of the thermometer is blue, however what shipped to me was purple, and that plastic end piece has a loop in it to connect to a cord or to hang up with.As far as thermometers go, there's nothing overly special or "trick" about it. It's simple and functional and most importantly, calibrated, so you know the indicated temperature is correct.
