U-POL ACID#8 Acid Etch Primer, Automotive Etching Primer Paint For Bare Metals, Durable Against Rust & Corrosion, Easy-To-Use, Gray, 0.8 Gallon

I used Acid 8 on several fabrication projects where bare steel is welded and sanded. I cleaned with lacquer thinner and sprayed Acid 8 followed by Raptor Bed Liner spray. Never had any issues with adhesion and the finished project looks great. Some projects are 3 years old and stored outside in the North East with no rust.

This etch primer worked very well as a base for raptor liner spray. I touched up some areas with rattle can primer and had much poorer results.

Seems to be a Great product as with any coating time will tell. I shot this out of a 1.5 and it laid down great. Degreased then primed these awnings and finished with raptor spray in bedliner. Will use again.

I;m not sure what to make of this. I sprayed two medium-light coats as instructed, then two coats of color. When reading the instructions, it indicates that color may not work over this primer. What?? What else would you do? I did notice that some of the color flaked up in spots and didn't seem to gel with the primer. It also seems to scratch off fairly easily and not really adhere to the bare iron. While I'm sure this product has its benefits, if you're looking to paint bare metal, I would go with a straight engine paint that will be more durable. It may be the case that this primer is supposed to get another coat of regular primer before color, but that's just too much to deal with IMO.

Perfect amount for 2 coats in a 6.5' bed before bedliner

used on 3/16" armor skid plates for my OHV. used a grinder to remove surface rust, cleaned with drug-store isopropyl, applied 1 coat of this primer with a cheap paint brush, let dry 1 day, painted with Raptor Liner, let dry for 3 days ... 6 months later, no rust, no raptor liner flaking ... great product

This is not a review of the product itself because I only just received and have not been able to try it out. Shipping box was fine but the paint can damage is awful. Why would this be cleared to ship in the first place?

Put bedliner on deck of aluminum boat. This primer gave me perfect basecoat for spray-on bedliner.
