Real life lessons to learn
This book is the best book I have read that gives so many practical and effective advice to young men. It was written specifically for black young men, but this book speaks to ALL young men, regardless of color, ethnicity or nationality. I have bought at least three of them as gifts for my grandsons and a young friend. It is worth reading over and over again. I highly recommend it for every teenage boy and other young adults all the way to young men in their late twenties.

A Needed Book in These Times
I bought this a little skeptical of the reviews, so I read through the book myself and I felt like I was receiving advice from my own father. This book starts off a little cliche, I was thinking a teenager is going to be rolling their eyes at this point, but then it really gets into some meat. While the book is geared towards Young Black Men, most of the lessons in it are universally true for young men. Still, this is a great tool for our young black men with some much needed guidance.

Excellent reading and information
Good reading for both young and older to help understand the generational dynamic. Should be required reading in school or if not at home.

Every Black Male Should Own, Read, and Apply This Book
One of the best books I have read that all black men should read. I personally like the fact that the author starts off the book by encouraging black men to get to know The Lord and Saver Jesus Christ (which separated this book from Hill Harper's "Letters to a young black brother"). The Author then branches out and explores other areas such as Women, Education, and Wisdom that all black men should know about. This book is states suggest the information is for young black men but I believe white young men can benefit from this text as well. I have recommend this book for all African American men to buy, read, and apply to their lives. I hope this review helps you.

Fatherly advice - Full of wisdom
I do a chapel service in a Juvenile Detention Center in the Bronx, and this book is the first book that I have found that I feel would be VERY helpful to the boys. The reason is - it is broken down in a very simple fashion that is super easy to read, designed for one that may have a short attention span and doesn't typically read a lot, and is very practical and directive as to why and how to get onto a good path.I am so grateful to this author for creating such a wonderful loving tool so full of wisdom. It has no hint of being condescending, which I also love.

A good guide into manhood
My boys love this book. It is a nice, quick, easy to read and understand book for young boys entering manhood. This book backed up a lot of things that we are already telling our sons. It help hit home with them, because the information is coming from someone else other than their parents.
