Q: what is the scrim of this cover?

Not sure whatscrim is but mine lasted about a month and the whole side ripped out dont waste your money

No it does not at least mine didn't come with it

Q: Will this work for a 12 x 25 rectangular pool as well?

It most likely would. We have a 15' x 24" oval and the cover is very generous. It goes over the edges quite a bit. Our pool is surrounded by decking so we just tie it out flat to the deck posts. This is the best cover we've bought. We'll get one more season out of it, three years, not bad! When we took the cover off this spring the water was crystal clear. We will purchase this one again.
