Amazed! Bye bye Dutch oven!
I am amazed with this roasting pan! When I first saw it I was nervous. My sourdough loaves run around 950 grams each. I am a Dutch oven girly and have a huge collection. They can put a lot on your back when you’re baking 100 loaves for a market and also limit you to 3 loaves per run. I can fit 6 of these in my regular sized oven. Maybe 8 if I finagle it right lol. No preheat is required for the pans. I just preheat my oven to 435 degrees and popped the loaves in. I baked 40 minutes with the lids on and 15 with them off. I wasn’t expecting much from the quality of the pan, with it being built so light. I was expecting overflow with the storage capacity of the pan only being 7 lbs but there was None! There was no difference in flavor, moisture level, crust texture and the bread had a great spring and ear! The bread also did not burn or or stick to the sides even though I didn’t use parchment, I did use a bread mat. I would suggest using one. I didn’t find ice cubes to be needed. I tried it with and without and the loaves crusted either way. I have washed the pans twice with no rusting. I think I found my new way to sourdough! It makes the perfect toaster shaped bread!

Just like the ones you had back in the day
I love this thing. It says it’s a 7lb roasting pan? Heck no, I got a 4.5lb chicken in it comfortably with the lid fitting, a 2.65lb pork shoulder roast also fits perfectly but no vegetables will fit other than a sliced onion and half cup of water. I have been happy with how the meat turns out, no foil needed, tender and moist and browned. The edges of the pan are a little sharp so you have to be careful washing it.

I bake my sourdough in this roaster
Nice quality and the perfect size for baking a loaf of sourdough bread. It’s a great value and not nearly as heavy as a Dutch oven.

Be very careful when removing the shipping tape that holds the roaster top in place for shipping.
Be very careful when removing the strong tape that keeps the roaster top in place during shipping, it is a very strong adhesive and as I removed it some of the enamel coating peeled off the roasting pan. The roasting pan itself is very sturdy and just the right size for a small or medium roast.

Granite roasters are the best ever made!!!
We moved & forgot to pack our small granite roaster! So, happy I found another one! Now I have 3 of them again! Square for the turkey, large oval for complete meals & the small one for cooking a roast/chicken by itself!!

Perfect size for 2
When I bought it I was very happy with the size and the sturdiness. Other roaster pans are too large for 2-3 family homes and the rectangular ones can easily warp over time. I roasted a 4lb chicken and it worked perfectly. Cleaning the roaster was easy as well. I just wish that the roaster was an inch wider.
