Playdate Bike Club Step-Through Single Speed Bicycle, 50cm/One Size

I have really gone back and forth between rating this as 3 or 4 stars because the issues I experienced are not solely specific to the bike itself I'm rating higher. Overall the bike is a head turner and is equally well crafted with sound construction and components. However the shipping box was flimsy and the bicycle barely survived transportation, which resulted in scratched handlebar ends and componentry. The box literally looked like a large animal had ripped a whole in its side. I hope the manufacturer in future will consider reinforcing the box sidewall or better ensure all bike pieces are adequately wrapped. Nonetheless I will remove or replace scratched pieces as they are not significant to the bikes overall aesthetic and I'm not confident that the exchanged bike would not sustain greater shipment mangling. Another potential caution is the bike itself comes with no directions, so be aware of that if you are not mechanically minded. Nor can you find any real information from the manufacturer beyond photography, luckily in those photos I found a few closeup pics of areas where directional guidance would be helpful in assembling. Overall the bike is fairly manageable to assemble but I did run into difficulty here and there and especially attaching the seat to the sissy bar. The logistics are sound in regards to "how-to" assemble but the bolts felt about an 1/16 to 1/8" short so it required finessing to successfully mount.I searched at nausea before deciding on this bike and went back/forth between Schwinn Stingray, Playdate, or a custom lowrider. The Playdate prevailed as I felt like this was the best choice for comfort and longevity sake and now that I have the bike assembled and ridden I feel affirmed in that choice.
