One of the very few 'essential' investing books. If you're interested in value investing, looking at the fundamentals of a stock, trying to ascertain the value and understand the story of a company, then Lynch's sharing of his experiences and advice is invaluable. This is NOT a get-rich-quick book, nor does it concern technical trading, nor does he give you a step-by-step guide on how to pick winning stocks. He mixes equal parts quantitative (balance sheet, earnings, p/e ratio, etc.), qualitative (what kind of stock is it - fast grower, slow grower, turnaround, etc.?) and psychological thoughts (the kind of mindset you need to buy and hold good stocks). Certainly, some parts of the book are rather dated given when it was written, but mostly it's still quite relevant.

自分が生まれて初めて手にした、株に関する本が、Peter LynchのLearn to Earnでした。穏やかで柔らかい人柄と、やさしくわかりやすい文章に惹かれて、二冊めに読んだ株の本がこれです。Learn to Earnが「株ってなんとなく怖そう」と思っている人に対して、株の魅力に目を向けさせるための本だとしたら、この本は、次に、実際にどうやって銘柄を自分で選べばいいのかを具体的に教えてくれるものです。日常生活でどうやって気付くか、balance sheetなどのどの欄の数字をどう読み取ればいいのかなどが具体的に書いてあります。著者の言葉を借りるなら、株を選ぶポイントは「ストーリー」が描けること。そのストーリーの描き方を丁寧に教えていくれる本です。この本を読み終えた瞬間から、ありふれた日常が「投資家の視点」から見たワクワクする世界に変わっていることでしょう。

Although the first edition was published more than 30 years ago, contents still applies to this day.Easy to understand even though you are not in financial fields.Very good book if you are starting to invest in stock markets.May be good to read in once a while if you have long experience investing in stock markets to remind you the basics.
