Learned the true Okai - Ran, far and fast!
I truly can't believe I have to leave this 1 star review, but I learned who Okai truly is I guess. To start I own an Okai scooter that I have had for a few years now and I have felt the quality and ride has been great, better even that the Segways and Go Tracks I own as well. This prompted me to buy my wife an Okai beetle. Sadly no where, anywhere is a seat height listed, so I reached out to Amazon customer service and they said it is adjustable and should fit, well that was not accurate once we got the scooter and she is too short to reach the ground while sitting on the seat. So I have to start the return process, but here is where I learned who Okai really is, we also ordered a basket for the scooter when we ordered the scooter, but through Okai as they sent me a TY 20% off coupon. We received the basket after finding the scooter height was too tall and never opened it. I tried to return the basket but no where online was this made easy so finally I called and they told me I have to email Okai, I finally get a response and they are charging me shipping and a restocking fee, so more costly to return it than keep it. Dealing with Okai after the sale has been a nightmare so I will never buy another Okai product, in fact I cancelled my new Okai scooter I had in cart at Best Buy.

Jealous from my eBike!
After getting a SWFT Fleet ebike, I wanted my Fiancé to join me on the electric riding fun. The pink color and style of the Beetle made that a quick sale. It's a slick little package that feels well thought out. From "duh" implements like showing battery percent on the screen during charge, which my ebike doesn't. To functions, like the brake light and cruise button - I've gotten wrist pain from maintaining full throttle on my ebike over a long period, so I'm glad to see this. To a little touch like the back of the seat having finger grooves for comfort when lifting up.I especially love the feature where it doesn't have to be rolling for the throttle to work. Rental escooters and my ebike have required riders to start the motion, but the way the Beetle can take you from a stop really sells the emoped feel.Assembly was dead simple, especially compared to my ebike. No fussing with brakes or wires? No problems. The ride is good, seat comfy. Our rust belt roads aren't great and while I'd certainly say you avoid every pothole you can on a $500+ scooter, it can be ok with smaller ones. It can be difficult to dodge rough spots in the road with only the illumination of the Beetle's headlight. Hasn't stopped me yet.Another ride item is one-handed operation feels unstable, coming from a bike. I find myself listing - countering the downward force on the handle I'm using by leaning the scooter to the other side. This in combination with the bucking motion a sizeable hump in the road can provide... might get a more spirited rider in trouble. At the end of the day, I think these are just owed to the scooter characteristics of the Beetle. The last and least complaint I have is the key - tapping the key to unlock only works when a specific side of the key is pressed to the screen, and the keychain loop is off to that side rather than in the middle. You can kind of see this in the Amazon photo that includes the key (in this photo, the side of the key that's up with the NFC logo, is actually the part you need to press face down against the screen). It makes me nervous to use the key with a keychain, because it's difficult to press the key to unlock without the metal keychain also touching the screen. Haven't scratched the screen yet, and you can just press the unlock button or use your phone, but it's just... they got so much so right, and did this.I do love the cheery little chime it throws out when the key is used, though. While it really is just an escooter with seat and some plastic cladding, the array of features feels like the plucky, easily stored and maneuvered Beetle saying "I am a road vehicle." If I'm running up to the corner store alone, I grab this before I grab my faster ebike. It's a comfortable blast.

It's very good, but...
I've rode my scooter about 350 miles since April in NYC and here are my thoughts;• Initial setup is easy. The app has been improved so if you cannot connect your phone to the bike, press the bluetooth icon IN the app itself.• NFC part of the key supplied almost never works. Manually have to press the on and off buttons.• The bike does NOT do well on bumps. There is nothing to soften bumps, riding over gravel, nothing. It hurts. This is in many areas around NYC. I'm shocked the bike has held up well considering!• I'm 116lbs 5'2 and this bike does not do well going up even slight hills. It goes about 10mph to 11mph on inclines I can barely even notice.• The breaks work well, however, one time someone biked directly in front of me causing me to break and it was so loud and still didn't stop right then and there. Traveled maybe a foot or less before completely stopping.• While the bike says 15mph, google maps app tells me i'm going about 14mph. I'm not sure which is right but it's not really much of an issue.• When going downhill, there is no way to let it go by itself. It'll slow down considerably. Once you go 16mph+ the bike jolts a bit to slow down and the display screen turns off and on. It scared me the first time. It felt like the bike had completely turned off for a second and then back on.• It does take a LONG time to charge. About 6 hours. (which is standard but I have no patience lol)• It does not seem to really take you 25 miles on a single charge going 15 MPH. For example, I went to the park on 50% battery. Left my home and 2 minutes later, without riding it, it was at 48%. I then rode to the park, rode around. Checked my phone and only traveled a total of 7 miles and it had died. If it's 50% left, I should have had about 11.5 miles total to go before it died. I'm not sure if the display showed the wrong battery life or if my battery itself is becoming faulty.• The 'headlight' cannot be moved up or down. The light isn't directly in front of you but a little bit out. Wish there was an option to change that.• VERYYYY HEAVY! It's almost impossible to bring this up or down stairs by yourself. You will definitely break a bone and the scooter attempting.• If you have cats, keep them AWAY from the seat at all costs! My cat loves to sit on the seat but has put so many tiny holes in the seat!• The compliments! People LOVE this scooter! Everywhere I go people ask what it is and tell me it looks like a UFO, or egg shaped. It's a cute conversation starter.

Just the thing!
With gas prices so high I Washington - I am loving my little scooter! It is just right for me - and small enough to put in my camper van! Only thing is - no mirrors or signaling devices will fit on it - and there is NO way to put the key on a key ring - which makes it very, very unhandy for me.Otherwise I still ❤️ it.
