Uber Goop Dark GREY Dishwasher Rack Repair w/40 caps

I was hesitant about this product but it turned out well for us. I followed the instructions and let it cure longer than was recommended. I applied the goop and the caps outside. A mask would help with how strong the odor is. I wore disposable gloves and waited to apply secondary coats. It was easy to use, though messy. The brush was like nail polish brushes. The caps have held on since we applied it over a month ago now.I did a full wash cycle before putting in any dishes. Definitely recommend to help keep your dishwasher going without buying new racks.

Overall this was a good product. I coated my areas 3x. There was some severe rusting on some of the areas of my dishwasher rack. I didn't use the caps because the tips of my rack were too large. The directions are good, and they tell you to keep the bottle covered while you dab the rack. Wear a glove. That gets a bit messy. I can't rate durability as I have not washed dishes since doing it. I also let my dishes air-dry, so I imagine it will last longer than if I used the heat cycle.

We have water that is sort of aggressive, and our dishwasher racks had lots of cracks or bends where rust had built up and the tines were breaking off. This product (while a little bit stinky at first) went on just like fingernail polish. Easy to apply - kinda goopy, but that's in the name. I just sanded off the rust as best I could and applied several coats of this stuff to the broken areas. Then, after it dried over 24 hours, I washed them with no dishes a time or two to reduce the chemical smell. So far the coating has stayed on. If it doesn't work after a while, I will update this review, but our well water is probably different than your water anyway. This was MUCH cheaper than the $250 per rack that Bosch wanted to charge me.

Caps are a good quality and hold color well. Paint is good and covers nicely but only lasts about six months and color fades pretty fast. The color is much darker then kitchenaid racks but after a few washes the color fades and is a closer match. I wouldn't expect this to permanently fix a rusting rack for good after about six months it will need to be repainted, but it's a good way to extend the life of your rack if you keep up on it.

Product works well...this is my second bottle. The reason I give it three starts is the bottle is glass. While using it I dropped it on the tile and it smashed, scattering gooey fluid all over the kitchen. Now I have a bunch of the tines, but no solution to attach them and paint the racks.

This stuff is amazing. It was easy to use, and once dried and cured you can barely tell the difference between the original finish and the repair I made. It does not look very good when first applied but don't let that worry you, once dried it is fine. The hardest part was removing the rusted area but if you have a rotary tool that makes it a lot easier , application of the sealer was simple enough.

I fixed the rust spot on my new dishwasher rack about 4 weeks ago so I can not comment on longevity yet but it appears to work great. The coating was damaged at a end so I actually cut the rusted portion off and then followed the directions (sand the affected area, prep, etc). The repair is hardly noticeable and the color matches perfect (Dark Gray for Fridgidaire Professional Line). My intuition is the repair will last but you need to remove any and all traces or rust prior to coating or it will likely continue to spread even if coated as you will still seal some moisture in.

I purchased this item in March 2015. I applied it to a Bosch dishwasher rack in July 2015. I followed all the instructions, remove the rust, apply thin coats, etc. The product last for less than a year and the problem now is that the damage is bigger than before (see photos). The uber goop product is peeling off. Most likely it can't withstand the heat of the dishwasher over time. I am now debating what to do. I reached out uber goop customer service and they response was that they provide refunds/returns for 30 days. Since clearly the product will work for 30 days, that's a bad policy. I would except they guarantee the product for at least a year. In short, save your time and money and don't buy this product.
