Great record player, but kind of pricey.
This is a great turntable, but it can be misunderstood. You should familiarize yourself with Music Cast prior to the purchase. If you are unfamiliar with the technology, it allows you to wireless sync and stream music to multiple MUSICCAST speakers throughout your house. (Similar to Sonos.) Yamaha recently updated it to provide 5.1 surround sound as well. Each speaker, receiver, or in this case turntable, has the capability to stream music services. Examples include Pandora, Spotify, etc. This turntable provides a lot of flexibility to existing stereo systems. If you have an older receiver or amp without internet connectivity, you can connect this turntable to it and then also stream online services. (Note, this is possible when using the turntable’s line out connections with the pre-amp NOT the phono ports.) It can then connect to other Music cast speakers throughout the house and both send and receive streams. In my case, it allowed me to physically move the turntable across the room from my existing receiver so that my children were unable to reach it now that it is up and out of the way. I can now link it to as many or few speakers as I would like. I could also see a benefit of being able to listen to vinyl in other rooms while my children watch TV with the receiver. The turntable itself is a solidly built, belt driven system that provides excellent sound in my opinion. When linked to other speakers, I think it allows me to achieve higher volume levels than my prior configuration, which included a normal turntable going into a Music Cast receiver. The motor is really quiet and quick to respond. Like other higher end turntables that focus on sound quality, there is no auto start/return. It comes equipped with a slow drop lever that functions very smoothly and eliminates mistakes that happen when you manually drop the stylus/tonearm. There is a button to select the RPMs; no adjusting belts on this system. It is shipped with a Audio Technica MM cartridge. So far I have very pleased with it. The only gripe I might have is the price point, especially when it came in at 700$. I paid 500$ and it was a bit more palatable due to the build quality. Hopefully Yamaha can find a way to lower the price just a bit more and it would then be amazing.

Superb quality and connectivity
Easy to use and has amazing quality. I love this turn table. I wish it was automatic though. Not easy the worse you vision gets to put a black needle on a black record.

Don’t buy. Worst player ever
Zero star if possible. The worst product ever. Can not play over WiFi or Bluetooth. Multi-room is a joke. Damn. Just waste time to setup this junk.

Awesome but not automatic
The Yamaha MusiCast 500 is an excellent turntable with easy setup and great quality and sound. There are things we love and feedback we’d want to share...+Love the way the record needle tracks and the pitch is perfect every time!+Love the option to play Bluetooth sources and network sources+Love the option to play analog sound directly to my receiver phono jack!-Wish the MusiCast would play music to a Bluetooth wireless speaker instead of only working with expensive Yamaha MudiCast speakers-Wish the setup of MusiCast was easier. Had to switch on network and select the network source before I could add the turntable to my MusiCast app, and the instructions on how to do this were not clear.-Wish such an expensive turntable has some automatic features like wish it would automatically return the arm after the record plays instead of spinning forever until you manually move the needle up off the record.Overall I’m a fan. This is an excellent turntable!

Great turntable!
Amazing sound - as long as you realize you need an amplifier. I use an old Bose 321 system and it sounds incredible.

Review
Dispute some of the reviews this turntable is not only beautiful in piano black it was easy to connect to my music cast system. I only gave it four stars as it should have a much better cartridge and stylus than what comes with it but I am sure loving it and enjoy my old vinyls once again. Been 20 plus years. Sound much better than digital music today.
