Jane Doe: A Jane Doe Thriller

I downloaded this book with low expectations for reading on a train journey. Super book! Well written with an unusual and clever plot. Maybe a tad too many explanations about the narrator being a sociopath but a few genuine shockers: He said WHAT! and She did WHAT! And very dry humour! Couldn’t stop reading it and ended up not being able to sleep once I had finished it at 11.30pm because of all that nasty blue light from my iPad. Very highly recommended.

I downloaded this as my Kindle First for July because none of the others appealed to me, but I didn't start reading it until a few days ago. But once I started, the pages flew by. I didn't think I'd like Jane, a self-confessed sociopath hell bent on revenge for the man who drove her one and only true friend to suicide. But wow, I was cheering Jane on throughout the book as she gradually drew Stephen into her spider's web before chewing him up and spitting him out. A lot women know a man like Stephen, a seemingly charming person but an egomaniac who takes pleasure in putting women down and destroying their confidence, and I wish there were more Jane's in the world to sort them out. It does have some explicit sexual references that some readers might not like, but the plot is brilliant, the ending is excellent and I was sorry to finish the book.

I read this quickly because it was so intriguing.Believable characters, sharp clean prose and an original plot. I was mesmerised by the protagonist who was a true anti-hero and the supporting characters were complimentary to Jane’s sociopathic nature with their ‘normal’ traits. I could even forgive the occasional repetition of phrase because generally speaking the writing and tantalising plot was just so moreish.Then, the last 10% proved too much for the author. She set up a masterpiece psychological thriller, then delivered an anti-climatic, predictable finale. It built up beautifully then fizzled out in the blink of an eye.I won’t spoil the average twist but needless to say you’ll see it coming far sooner than the author would like you to and that unfortunate truth won’t be eased by the swift unsatisfying climax.What should have been superb, is alas just average.

Well, well, well. What can one say? Picked this book by chance as was bored with all my usual authors and thought try something new. Totally gripping from the start and written in a way that you could relate to real life and what really goes on in some relationships. The characters were amazing and you just wanted to know what was going to happen next. The twists were excellent and the ending fantastic. I could go into detail but that would soil it, all I will say it's a Must Read and follow this author and so glad I came across her as she is now added to my list if favourites and cannot wait to read her previous titles and any future ones.

I read this book in one day. It was so good that I just couldn’t put it down. There isn’t one dull spot in the entire book. Fantastic story line. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a fast paced sociopathic read!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The main character was aware of her limitations but pushed on regardless. Also, a very satisfying ending.

What an absolute CORKER!! I couldn't put it down from the moment I started. I'm so enamored, I want to buy the paperback. What an EPIC journey of gritty revenge. I really related to Jane on so many levels. This is a true masterpiece of the inner workings of a sociopath, and the lengths people will go to in order to seek justice.There are points in the book where I laughed so hard I cried - Jane's expert manipulation and toying of her prey is just downright genius.I'm new to this author but I already want to devour every word she's written if it's all like this. Absolute class. You will regret not reading this.

I was totally blown away by this book. It's one of the best books I've read in a very long time. If revenge is a "dish best served cold" - this book turns that inanely lame statement totally on its head - this dish is hot, very hot, hot, HOT!!! This is a masterclass in deviously toying with emotions, manipulating weak men, treading the edge of the madly psychotic and delivering the ultimate finale. It is engaging, enthralling, occasionally disturbing and sumptuously pacey. Once you're in there, you're hooked and it plays out perfectly. As you can probably tell - I loved it!!! Jane is a superb literary creation - fizzing, feisty, deviously compliant, calculating, smart and well ready to go for it. I won't spoil the book in any way, but if you've ever been on the receiving end of despicable emotional treatment (and who in life hasn't???) then you'll understand the delights of a fanciful dalliance in a revenge plot that wreaks the ultimate havoc on the perpetrators (and all without anybody losing their life)! Read it. I think you'll be beguiled by it. It's cleverly written and all too plausible - that's its charm!!!! Enjoy. It's just brilliant. And I can't wait to read more from this author. Top drawer storytelling.
