Trumpeter1/700 German Bismarck Battleship 1941 Model Kit

I believe 1/700 is the perfect scale if you want build more than just one model warships and you don’t have a whole room to store and display them. While most ships in this scale is offered in waterline style, Trumpeter’s models give you the choice of both full hull and waterline, so you have both display options. Scale modeling were not as popular as in the last few decades, so it’s understandable new molds are sparse. This is and old mold but the details are very crisp. You can also add options such as wood decks and rails to provide even more detail and realism. They did change the cover art of this fascist ship to get around fascist censorship currently implemented in many countries. How ironic is that? Kudos to Trumpeter, they do include the decals to build the ship its historical accuracy. Finally, giving the price, this kit is a no brainer!

Very nice kit, as described, with lots of tiny parts. Not for beginners. Waterline of full hull. Looking very good on the shelf!

This model was well done not a lot of slag on the tree very crisp mold lines exceptional detail for this scale.

just what I ordered

This model looks nice when complete, but compared to the quality of other model ship brands, some aspects of this model were quite disappointing. You need to use a stick-on wooden deck (available separately), because the plastic deck is more than one piece and has massive, visible join lines. The superstructure for the bridge etc was part molded onto the central deck piece, but then you had to stick on the outer walls, not all of which fitted properly. The sprues were another problem - the part that joined to the pieces were too thick, leaving horrible marks behind, especially visible on the lifeboats, etc. The red part of the Swastika decals were rectangular, you're supposed to stick them on then cut into size! I painted mine on and only used the circle and cross decals. Two of the lifeboats were on a different sprue than indicated, and as far as I could tell, the instructions said to put the lifeboat frame that's in front of the forward 5.9" turret facing outwards - should be inwards. The detail, however, was very good, with rivets on the turrets etc.
