the TL/DR very is below the “—“ if you want to skip to it! (first half is background and info on gut bacteria and probiotics) Anyone who deals with digestive issues can commiserate with how terrible they are, and how heavily it affects one's quality of life when having a negative reaction. For me...life nearly stopped for a good 4 hours after eating something my body deemed bad. I couldn't focus on anything but the terrible swelling and pain in my abdomen - like curl-up-in-a-ball cramping of (I assume) trapped gas. I have dealt with this issue off and on for years with complete confusion as to what sparked it or what to avoid. It appeared to be more a situational thing rather than particular foods, as I would eat the same things and not have a problem...then it would be like EVERYTHING caused it. I would seriously be afraid to eat...hear the grumble of my stomach of hunger and sit and think which pain was better to deal with: hunger or insane swelling and pain for about 4 hours :/ If you are reading reviews on amazon for probiotics I can take a guess that you, or someone you care about is having issues and you know enough to know how successful probiotics can be to alleviate it. What I had begun to realize through information (I actually stumbled on a click bait infomercial on some "special" and very expensive probiotic) that explained to me about gut bacteria and the good and bad gut bacteria we have in our bodies. I sat through an hour infomercial I couldnt fast-forward to finally gain that knowledge...so I like to pass on the gist of it to others and hopefully help them out. When you have a food reaction, your bad bacteria has gotten out of control and takes over, wrecking havoc from within. There are things that feed the bad bacteria and make it stronger - with some notable things being consumption of sugar --artificial sugar in particular (diet soda is the devil, please don’t drink it)—and some terrible ingredient used in cheap bread that has been outlawed in a lot of countries. Azodicarbonamide (ADA) (thanks google), which is a chemical substance approved for use as a whitening agent in cereal flour and as a dough conditioner in bread baking. When you search "bad thing in bread" you can find this info as well as subway popping up as they used to use it and stopped. "A report from the Environmental Working Group found nearly 500 foods contain Azo, but it no longer appears in Subway breads as of this week. Subway announced, “To our knowledge Subway is the first major restaurant chain in North America to completely remove Azodicarbonamide from its core bread formulations.” Apr 30, 2014" - good job subway! Anyway, as we continue to put crap in our bodies, things like bad gut bacteria get to have a hay day, and we sit and wonder why people have so many more food allergies and reactions these days. With regular use of probiotics and prebiotic (look those up if you are not familiar... they are even better), you can help your body maintain the good gut bacteria and keep the bad in check. So now, with all that overview, I will get into why this product is the best out there: — I had immediately found relief with integrating probiotics into my diet...but there became subtle differences in how I felt so I knew the different strains played a part. One tidbit from the infomercial I watched stated to locate a probiotic with at least 10 different strains, and at least 40 billion microorganisms. So initially, that was my guideline. The different strains all help with different things. Then there is the whole survivability thing and claims that with some probiotics the bacteria don't survive and get where they need to be. In that case, money down the drain (or down the gut, rather!). Some probiotics are time-released for that reason. Side note that prebiotics (which are mainly plant-based) help feed EXISTING good bacteria, rather than trying to supplement integration of foreign ones. Then there is the BC30 strain (Bacillus Coagulans GBI-30). A friend emailed me an article where I learned about it. You can check out for yourself (hope amazon doesnt remove the link, if so ill put in the comments: mensjournal.com/health-fitness/articles/should-you-take-a-probiotic-w207307 from the article: "There is one particular probiotic that’s been well studied, is heat-stable, and is popping up often in new products — a Bacillus coagulans strain called Ganeden BC30. Ingest a food or drink containing BC30, and chances are the probiotic will be alive and intact. However, many other probiotic strains being added to products do not demonstrate this stability, says Jeremy Burton, deputy director of the Canadian Centre for Human Microbiome and Probiotics." Oh, and what is in this product, eh? ;) That is what lead me here... if you do an amazon search for BC30, it is what comes up. Something like this is a lot like supplements and the whole blood brain barrier discussion. You can put things in your body, but your body can filter it right how so it's like it never happened. So probiotics are like that. How do I feel since taking Digestive Advantage Daily Probiotic with BC30? Well if you have read this far, I applaud you...as I have saved the bathroom talk to be way deep into my review as I am slightly shy :"). That is the #1 thing I have noticed...my body seems to have become VERY regular, healthier BMs and instantly it was more, as though it could finally rid itself of waste. Bathroom talk with millions of strangers isn't my favorite thing but, ya know, we all do it and it is a big part of whether we are healthy and happy or not. That is the aspect and improvement that I have seen with only certain probiotics, which leads me to believe the claim that some aren't surviving after ingestion. I feel great, and food is no longer causing a reaction for me. The price is INSANELY fair for the fact that it is actually a proven effective strain. Some of the probiotics sold on here (and a lot given at a discount in exchange for reviews) ranges from $20-$30. Don't bother with that...more money DOES NOT always mean better. This is the product you need to try. Added bonus it doesnt need to be refrigerated and comes in individual push outs.

First let me give you a run down of my problems. Started years ago after having my gall bladder removed. My body now produces too much bile and I have prescription medicine for this from my GI, it is called Welchol. If you google that it will come up as a being a cholesterol lowering medicine, but it is also used for the absorption of excess bile in your system. I also have a script for Bentyl which I very rarely use as it makes me feel funny and knocks me out. So, that said I suffer from IBS-D. Sometimes debilitating bouts of numerous times of needing to find a restroom. To the point of where, when going somewhere I do the 'planning of my route' according to what restrooms stops are on the way. I do NOT suffer from this daily...thank goodness, but if I go into an attack it can last for days, weeks or up to months. About a year ago I began taking 1 immodium per day as recommended by my GI. I hate depending on that. I have waited 2 weeks now before writing this review to truly give the Sustenex time to work with my system. All I can say is WOW! I have only had to take an immodium 1 day (think that was my fault as I ate a super greasy meal) and have cut way back on my Welchol. It has seemed to give me a bit of excess gas but, considering what my stomach normally does after I eat---the PAINFUL gas, bloating and weird noises it would make, I will take this easy excess gas. It has seemed to improve over the last few days and I expect it to get better. This is the first review I have ever written. I did this because I felt like I HAD to come and write this. If this little capsule can give me this much relief in just 2 short weeks it is my hope that someone else will take the chance and try it. I have tried other probiotics in the past and they seemed to make my stomach hurt worse. This is the first one that I can literally take on an empty stomach. I plan on ordering the sustenex chews for my 9 year old son because he also suffers from some of the same symptoms I have. I hope they can bring him relief as well.

One of the best probiotics I’ve ever tried. Very reasonable price too. Excellent product.

I've nothing against dietary supplements. I take some on my physician's advice. But I am a skeptical consumer in this regard. Some supplements are completely worthless, and some can be dangerous. Years ago, when the probiotics craze started, I poo-pooed it. I eat a balanced diet, exercise, and try to get enough sleep. Other than gallstones, I never had digestive issues, and was firmly convinced probiotics were probably harmless but a waste of money. I rarely take antibiotics. I remember having to take them for a sinus infection in 2006, but the last time before that I can't remember the date. It's always been for sinus infections, and a rare thing. But in the autumn of this year, I came down with an intestinal infection and was prescribed two antibiotics. Oh, the misery! I had abdominal pain and bloat from the infection, my blood pressure would take sudden dives, and the antibiotics left me dizzy and brain-fogged. I couldn't concentrate, and I felt mentally and physically unbalanced. At times I'd literally hold onto a counter or put my hand on the wall because I was afraid I'd keel over. Even after finishing the antibiotics, I didn't feel much better. I bought this and waited ten days after I finished the antibiotics to try it. I figured any lingering antibiotics would kill the probiotics. Ten days was as long as I was willing to wait to try it, though. I was sick of being sick. After the second dose, I experienced a sea change. The bloat was gone, the dizziness and lack of clarity vanished, my energy returned. After a week, everything was back to normal. If I wanted to, I could tell you what time of day number two occurs again! It was like a miracle to me. I took this every day for six weeks, and now take it a couple times a week to make sure I have enough good bacteria in my gut. I'm still not certain most people need probiotics, but if you think you should try them, try this product. I'm glad I did!

Let me just say I have no idea if this stuff works or if it is a placebo affect (honestly, I tend to be skeptical about this stuff, but it was suggested and it didn't seem like it would be harmful at least and I was getting desperate and didn't really want to pay for a doctor when I'm on a really tight budget who most likely wouldn't be able to find the problem anyways since it was so random what would spur it on that it would be hard to pinpoint any specific thing). Last year I had been having monthly issues with my digestive system. Where it would keep me up all night going to the bathroom and feeling sick, sometimes almost feeling like the stomach flu (but since it was monthly and it was only intestinal really I am pretty sure it wasn't that) it was getting so bad. And to the point that I'd have a few days of just eating chicken and noodle soup and bread to keep my stomach calmed down (because after those bouts it would be a little iffy for a bit). And I lived in fear that eating something would totally bring it on (cause it was very random what seemed to cause it, but it did seem to be a monthly thing). I have been taking this for a year now and while my problems haven't totally disappeared (my stomach can still be quirky), they are much, much more manageable. I'm not in fear of eating something that all the sudden will have me wanting to be near a bathroom for hours (worst it gets is maybe a few times I need the bathroom and usually just a bit of queezy stomach). In fact I can't remember when my stomach last did more than just make me feel a bit queezy (and now sometimes it does that when it's hungry.. seems a bit counter productive to me. IN fact usually these days it is that rather than other issue). So, anyways, placebo effect or not, it seems to be working so I'll keep using it. In fact I just discovered Amazon's subscription feature which I've totally taken advantage of for this item.
