My son wanted this so I ordered it for him. I knew it was foam, but when he opened the box and pulled it out, I ran to grab it from him because it looked like a real sword! Once I held it, it was clearly foam. The quality is just amazing, though. From a visual inspection a few feet away, this looks very real.Now, once a kid has had a hold of it for a while and swung it around a bit, it gets dinged up and looks more like a toy foam sword, but it still holds up better than any other toy foam sword we’ve ever had.Excellent value for the price!

This foam sword replica is exactly as you see it in the photos, and the description is 100% accurate. That said, be aware that the claymore used by Mel Gibson in the film Braveheart"- basically a fantasy version of the 15th-century Scots claidheamh-mòr, "Great Sword"- was in fact 50 inches long, 7" longer than this foam replica. So, as a faithful, approximately 90% scale replica, this claymore is perfectly adequate for costuming, display, or swinging around one's head whilst watching the film (I never do that, of course). And since it's made of foam with a reinforcing inner core, there is considerably less chance of it accidentally going through a window, slicing the couch open, or taking out the big-screen TV should your hand slip on the grip.They may take our lives, but they'll never take our foam claymores!!!!

Served the costume perfectly. Very solid and sturdy. Size was lifelike.

It is a little scaled down. I used this for a William Wallace costume for Halloween.When my 1yo was running around the party with it, his Grandma thought it was real.It is really safe and basically feels like Nerf foam all around.

I gotta say this thing is really great! Super light, looks really great, and could easily be mistaken for the real thing. Great value at the cost.
