This salt cellar holds a generous mount of salt. It also looks and feels like a premium product. It really looks like a work of art, while being very functional. I love the look and feel of the dark wood with the varying shades. I really like the color of this salt cellar over the lighter versions that are being sold. The cover is also very sturdy. If you flip the container over, with salt inside, the cover still does not leak any salt. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love the wood and use the little jar to store salt. I've used it for 9 months and it's changed the way i cook. I'm no longer pouring salt into my palm. I just open the jar, and take a pinch of salt to season whatever I'm cooking. I think the design is rustic and I'm very pleased with how easy it is to use. Highly recommend. The lid used to fit a little tighter. I'm sure I can use a screwdriver to tighten it. This is not a deal breaker and is just normal wear and tear.

I bought the salt box as a ring-bearer's box and as a nice box to hold some gourmet salt that we were gifted. It's a beautiful box - the bottom appears to be made from a single piece of wood, instead of two pieces (a hollow cylinder and disk). It took some work to get the adhesive sticker off. I used some mineral oil that I use to condition my butcher's block, and it brought out the beautiful wood tones in the box. The lid is just a little bit loose, and it's not an airtight seal. I live in an arid climate now, but if I were still living in high humidity, I believe the salt would clump up quickly. Overall, it's beautiful and satisfies the purposes I had for it, but I would not say I was blown away

Great product works as advertised!

Since I've always enjoyed cooking and trying to get better, I finally realized that a salt cellar was needed in my arsenal of kitchen tools. Aside from pouring salt into my hand just to get a pinch or two for whatever I was seasoning and throwing out the rest, which seemed wasteful and dumb, it wasn't efficient. So, I grabbed this salt cellar and it's really great. Simple, works well and does what it needs to do silently, cleanly and effortlessly. The wood seemed a bit TOO dry when I unboxed it so, I gave a liberal dose of mineral oil (on the outside ONLY!) and it drank it like a sponge, Works like a charm and looks good on my counter. Definitely recommend!

Fortunately, we had bought this same product from somewhere else before buying several more from Amazon (great price @ Amazon!). This prepared us for the negative feedback that it received from other reviewers, and didn't deter us from purchasing more of them. Yes, the salt cellar has a visible screw on the lid that holds it to the base. This is actually a nice feature since it allows the lid to pivot out of the way without having to remove it. The picture doesn't show a screw. It would be nice to update it so that buyers are accurately informed of what they are purchasing. The lid has sharper edges, similar to the base; and the small brass screw is countersunk so that it is flush with the lid. We don't mind the screw. Also, the cellars DO have an odor to them; but it smells like mineral oil, probably used to season the wood ... not a bad thing. They function well, look nice, and you can't beat the price ... especially if you want several of them!

Love this salt cellar. works great and looks great. I rubbed some olive oil all over the wood (minus the inside) when I first got it as I live in a dry climate and wanted it to be protected (I will do this every other month prob) and keep its dark rich colour. Very happy with this and would recommend it with some specialty salt as a housewarming or anniversary gift.

Beautiful product, amazing gift. Use mineral oil to clean it and keep it pretty. Also helps with the sliding of the different containers
