Spectrum 25: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art

Underwhelmed because some of the artwork has no fantasy or science fiction element. They are done well but they are not fantasy. A portrait of Harvey Weinstein, a girl hailing a taxi, an orangutan, nude man wearing a mask, Jude palencar’s “centurion” was interesting but is it fantasy art?Also, a ton of Star Wars fan art. Some are good but I don’t find most of them interesting.Just down in quality and pricey.

These books are always very good. They have a diverse assortment of fantastical styles spanning hundreds of pages. There is always a mix of popular artworks you may find in advertising, books, comics, video or card games as well as lessor exposed creations that may have never been published. (it is mostly the former mind you)Good for getting exposure about what is out there and may help you get inspired with your own works. While I think the book may be appreciated by an art lover, I think it works even more for other artists as a source of motivation.

Received book and it was so carefully wrapt I was impresed. The book was in perfect condition. Would defenetly buy and recomend the seller. Great attention to details. Great custumer service and great product. 10/10.

I was surprised that this book was so reasonably priced. It is a BIG, Heavy, book filled with magnificent artwork...ohto be so artistic and talented. The book caught my eye because Howard Lyon was spot lighted in this book and I love his art what a fun surprise to see that the book is so high in quality and filled with beauty.

As usual this series never ceases to deliver superb art at a reasonable price. I recommend spending the extra on the hard covered version. I have collected over half the collection since issue one and have never been let down. An excellent coffee table book. I am proud to own most of these books. I would love to own all of them.

Have been buying this book for 25 years, ever since it first began. There is no better source of current contemporary Sci-Fi / Fantasy artists compiled in any shape or form than SPECTRUM. Even though publisher has changed hands five years ago, the extremely high standard set/maintained over the earlier twenty years has continued undiminished over the last five under 'Flesk'. If you have even a vague interest in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Art, SPECTRUM is an absolutely must have in your collection.

I look forward to the publication of Spectrum each year. It never fails to disappoint with the incredible illustrations. I always find new artwork from old favorites and exciting new artists in each volume. This series is a must have for anyone who loves fantasy art - or just loves fantastic art.

Gorgeous new volume! Packed with amazing illustrations. I discovered Spectrum recently but i’m now a fan. The best way to get a glimpse at who are the most active concept artists and illustrators out there.

Like other reviewers I felt this edition was a bit "flat". The first third of the book isn't really ground breaking fascinating fantasy, just interesting corporate adverts; it gets better as you go but still this is a loss.The focus throughout is far too much on the title and status of people; it's a who's who of "I did stuff for big brand/big brand/big brand", and is less about the art. Prior Spectrums fill the page with the pictures; this one has thick margins and letterbox sized images which really sink the appreciation of the work.In a world where so many creative industries are becoming commodotised I want Spectrum to be a bastion of distinction, quality and niche; unfortunately this issue is only 60 percent that

Superb volume, gets bigger and bigger, fantastic quality.The best of the best. A must buy for any fantasy art viewer.

It's personal taste of course, but I found edition 25 had much less to interest me than the previous editions that I own. Nothing wrong with the quality of production, it's the content I'm not so keen on.

Gorgeous book as usual. Hard to give the content a rating since all depends on each readers taste. Certain years I find more to my liking and other years less.
