Beautiful lamp, HORRIBLE electronics. Died within 5 minutes of operation
I was very excited for this lamp. Considering how crazy expensive this lamp is, I expected good construction. Unfortunately, the dimmer switch is REALLY cheap in its construction. In fact, it's so cheap, it broke the lamp the first time it was plugged in. A few problems with the dimmer switch.1) The switch is flimsy and doesn't create a good connection with the lamp -- this is a problem that led to my lamp shorting out within 5 minutes of plugging it in.2) The switch only has about 3" of cable and so it must sit on top of your piano right next to the lamp. The cable is barely enough for the switch to lay flat on the piano. As a result of the short cable, it looks very prominent on top of the piano (ugly) and it's not possible to have it be out of the way.3) The switch simply does not work. It's very simple construction, but the connections are weak and the switch appears poorly designed for this lamp. It shorted my lamp out within 5 minutes, leading to a VERY expensive paperweight. The lamp no longer turns on. The LED lights flicker and turn on VERY dimly, but shine no light anywhere. The dimmer no longer works either. Bottom line is that this is simply a total waste of money because of the cheap electronics. You'll be left with a cheap paperweight. I am a piano teacher and I expected better out of this brand. I'm very disappointed that a once-great brand is now apparently selling items that are poorly constructed. Don't let the reputation fool you. This lamp is not well constructed, you are better off spending your money elsewhere.

Great light - Would be better with a height adjustment.
I splurged on this light due to the great reviews, and I do not regret my purchase. It lives up to the other reviews: Nice, even coverage. Love the included dimmer. Low profile, so it is unobtrusive to the art I have hanging above my piano. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fact that you cannot adjust the height of the light. The light itself swivels sideways horizontally and back and forth to direct the light over the music, but the arm does not adjust up and down (which I would prefer over the horizontal swivel). I have a studio size piano, and the light is a bit too low in height to comfortably turn the pages of sheet music without hitting it. I added some felt pads to the bottom to raise it a bit, and it's perfect. Photos show the light after being raised about 3/4".

A seriously good (and lovely) LED lamp for your upright piano
This is the Cocoweb piano lamp you want for an upright piano. The other cocowebs are designed for grands. I have one of each lamp model and this is perfect for uprights! The LED light is strong, very adjustable in brightness with a handy twisting knob for this. I was worried about getting a good position with the light shining directly on the music and not in my eyes or my child's eyes (since we are different heights.) Even with a first grader and a full tall upright, the position is exactly right.Adjustments one can make: move the lamp to the front of the piano top and tilt/angle the lamp head downward towards the music stand.Other reviews had mentioned it tilts the wrong way but I did not find this; it tilts as it should (toward the music and away from your eyes). Why on earth would you spend this much on a lamp?: It is gorgeous. An instant upgrade to any piano, and the light is so good. You really can see sheet music more easily compared to a normal all-purpose lamp.A composer I respect said "This lamp really must be purchased. What are you waiting for? Just buy it and you will thank me later." I took that advice and it was spot-on!

IF YOU APPRECIATE QUALITY....
This is the piano lamp for Console Pianos. Pictures shown are of my Yamaha P2. I am so proud and grateful for such a nice instrument in my home. The sound is exemplary of what Yamaha intended for the music lover to appreciate great quality. The cherry on top of the whipped cream is my Cocoweb Piano Lamp. Wow! The warm LED lights provide excellent coverage over the keyboard and most especially over the music whether I am using 4 pages simultaneously or two pages at once. While owning a black piano I have come to the conclusion that "Black isn't only a color, it's a hobby" and this lamp will display the dust to help keep me accountable for taking care of the finish. I am overwhelmingly blessed and tremendously thankful for such a nice instrument and a beautiful lamp to display to those who visit my home.

The dimmer module is a pathetic afterthought
I finished setting up the light and was super pleased with it; I played a song and was delighted. Then I wondered where the dimmer was on the light. There were no other control surfaces other than the on/off toggle switch on the right of the LED strip. So I went back into the box and found a tiny white box still inside. I open it up and....gross. a chincy plastic dimmer module that shares absolutely zero aesthetic properties with the light itself. It's an awkward shape and the leads are way too short. They include some double sided adhesive foam pad, but there's absolutely no clear spot to attach it to the light, I sure hope the intention isn't to stick it to the piano.... The dimmer just ruined it for me. This light is so beautiful out of the box. All they had to do is build-in the dimmer feature to the base (there's plenty of room in there, it's basically just a giant iron weight) or include one that at least looked half as nice as the light itself. I don't think the light is worth much at all without a dimmer feature, so dispute how nice it is otherwise, I have to rate it on the weakest component. The dimmer is bad, and the seller should feel bad.
