Pretime Piano Christmas, Primer Level: Beginnning Reading (Faber Piano Adventures)

This is my favorite Christmas book for brand new piano students. The songs are familiar, the layouts are clear, and the early reading approach is exactly what beginners need at this stage. My students light up when they recognize the melodies and can play something that sounds real so quickly. The pieces reinforce steady rhythm and hand position without overwhelming new readers. I also appreciate how Faber keeps everything clean and uncluttered on the page, which helps younger students focus. I have a "Learn Christmas piano songs in 4 weeks," and this book is that I am using to get beginners recital ready. I use this every year in my studio and always end up ordering extra copies. A wonderful introduction to Christmas music for any beginner.

I use this book for my beginners every year. It is a favorite of mine, and my students like it very much. The arrangements are nice for our Christmas Recital.

Early elementary level for those who can read. Great book.

This is my favorite Christmas book for beginners. I use this book with students currently in the purple Faber primer lesson book or in the early part of Faber level 1. There are some concepts (e.g. accidentals, 1st and 2nd endings, tied notes) that some of these students haven't learned prior to the Christmas book, but since they are infrequent and the students usually know how the song is supposed to sound it's easy to give a quick explanation of what needs to be done and then review the concept more thoroughly later when the lesson book covers it.

Great Christmas Book for Beginners. The notes are very easy to read.

My 10 year old daughter just started piano lessons and she really has picked up playing with this Christmas book. It has familiar carols and is written easily for beginners - both left and right hand (not too much left hand). Although my daughter hates using her left hand and will play the combined notes with her right if possible (like Jingle Bells, they want a left thumb on C and right hand on E - it's easy enough to play together with thumb and middle finger of right hand). It has some challenges - B flat and hand position move in Silent Night), but they are labeled well. I like the teacher accompaniment provided for each song too. A fun beginner book!

This book was recommended by my granddaughter's piano teacher so she could play in a sweet little program for the residents of a nursing home at Christmas time. It is very simple and very nice.

Good quality and easy to read for beginners and children. The length of the pieces is short, but it is great for small recitals or practice.
