Fascinating Herb
Chebe powder is somewhat all the rage now in the natural (4C) hair community. I was always turned off from trying it because I didn't want to just walk around with a thick paste in my hair like the beautiful African women of Chad, it was when I learned that you could use chebe powder for infusions to make creams, butters, etc. to make it easier and more practical to incorporate in your weekly hair care routine that I was excited and curious to take the plunge. First off, I don't understand why so many reviewers are shocked by the size...you are literally getting what you're paying for, the weight/size of the chebe powder is listed in the prices when you buy it. People were making it sound as if the smallest size was as small as a pill pouch/bag or something, but for 0.7 ounces, I thought it was plenty for trying it out first before buying the largest size (3.5 ounces). What people also don't realize with herbs, a little goes a long way.1-2 tsps is all you need for a recipe and what's left is enough for at least a good 3-4 batches more. And considering what you make, whether it be a chebe oil or chebe butter, that should last a good 3-4 months because you only need a little bit, so I don't understand what the issue is when you can really stretch it out for a long time to get your money's worth. Oh, and the smell? Not nearly as bad as folks made it out to be, the smell is fine. It has a very earthy, smokey smell, kinda like pine tar grease if you ever tried that before, but more subtle, and it doesn't linger long after you apply it to your hair. As for applying to the hair, even the directions say that chebe is FOR THE HAIR STRANDS ONLY, NOT THE SCALP. Will chebe give you results from day 1? No, no hair product does that no matter how good your hair looks and feels after using it just once. Like any hair product, it takes time to see true results. I think people put way too many unrealistic expectations on chebe and also don't use it properly nor do their research first, it's not a magical hair growth elixir that will grow out your hair to over an inch overnight. It just keeps the moisture in the strands for longer which helps with hair retention, and that hair retention equals longer hair because it's not breaking off. I'll look forward to seeing how my hair progresses from using it, but for now, I see it as a fascinating herb that's fun for DIY hair recipes and that my hair is responding well to for now. You'll just never know what you can do with it, or if you'll like it, until you try it.** 1 Month Update: I infused this chebe powder in carrier oils and after wash day, I have applied it to my strands only, at least 10 drops, with extra emphases on massaging a few more drops at the ends and repeat the whole process again a week later. It took 3 weeks for me to notice a difference in how much softer, shinier, and more moisturized my hair is even a week later, being as fresh as it was on wash day. Now a whole month later, I notice that my hair is soo moist, hardly any tangles, and it's easier to detangle, and has thickened my hair too just a little. I haven't done a length check yet but this stuff is definitely wonderful for 4C hair. The key is to keep it in a protective style though while wearing the oil on your hair strands. Very happy with the results so far! If used properly, chebe powder can do wonders!

Great natural treatment for fine hair
I have incredibly fine, coily (4b/4c) natural hair and have recently revisited the triple hydration method. Though I love how sleek my hair feels and my beautiful coils, my strand circumference seemed a lot more narrow. I wanted something akin to an herbal protein treatment. I heard about Chebe years ago but it wasn't available for order anywhere online back then. On a whim, I decided to check Amazon and was pleasantly surprised. After hemming and hawing over how to use it, I decided to place about 1/2 a teaspoon in a small glass dropper bottle with castor oil and put it in a rarely opened drawer for a week. I skipped my usual wash day (I wash my hair once a week) and waited that week to let my hair "dry out" a bit. When wash day came around again, I mixed a teaspoon of Chebe with maybe a half cup of my favorite deep conditioner. After cleansing my scalp, I applied the Chebe mixture to my strands, brushed it through, put on a plastic cap and knit hat and made myself busy for a few hours. My deep conditioner is heavily perfumed and I noticed that the Chebe toned the scent down which I actually don't mind. As soon as I started rinsing the mixture out, I noticed a difference in how my hair felt. Mind you, this is my very first time using this. My hair initially felt 10% fuller. As I kept rinsing while using my shampoo brush to get all the grit out, my hair seemed to absorb more water. My hair still felt incredibly smooth but now about 25-30% fuller. I was immediately reminded about how much fuller my hair was as a teen/young adult. As I sectioned my hair, I couldn't help but notice how my rat tail comb was meeting more resistance but my hair was still pretty easy to part. My leave-in absorbed just as it has been and I got to work moisturizing and two-strand twisting my hair in 10 sections. My hair did seem to air-dry a little faster but a little warm water and it was fine. I wish I had remembered to take pictures. The thicker hair in my crown is smoother, the brush glided through it, and those coils are more uniform. The finer, looser hair around the perimeter is visually thicker, still soft but with more texture, and I don't see as much scalp. As for the Chebe oil I made: after my hair was twisted up and halfway dried, I took a drop of oil and smoothed it down each twist making sure to twirl it into the ends. While it was still a little moist, I secured each twist with a loose elastic and tied my hair with a silk scarf. When I woke up the next morning, the oil had completely absorbed and my twists hadn't bunched up on themselves under my scarf. They were elongated and had a beautiful, healthy sheen. This was 2 days ago. Last night, as I was oiling my scalp and hairline, I found three white emerging baby hairs. Elder hairs? I don't consider myself vain but I spend a considerable amount of time studying my skin and hair. I also long for a head full of snow white hair. I say that to say that I would've noticed this if they were already there.I also reapplied the oil to my twists and they feel great. The oil seems to absorb into my strands much faster though not as fast on my scalp. I may skip wash day again just to test how the Chebe powder reacts when mixed with my leave-in conditioner for a "refresh". All in all, I'm incredibly satisfied with the results. I wasn't expecting immediate results let alone such good ones. I really didn't need to use much and this packet will probably last until the end of the year if not longer. I'm excited to see what happens with continued use. Also, I got it all over my scalp and haven't had any reaction or discomfort.

Gives my hair so much moisture!
I thought the whole chebe craze was just a fade but this powder has really leveled up my hair oil and moisturizer. I infuse my hair oil with this powder for a week then strained it out and the oil I get from this gives so much slip and shine. Same with my hair creme/moisturizer. This chebe has given my moisturizer so much more slip and keeps my 4c hair moisturized for days!
