What If There Were No Bees?: A Book About the Grassland Ecosystem (Food Chain Reactions)

Vital
I'm a middle school librarian. Last year, I needed to weed the science section of my library as it was severely outdated. I'm adding this book immediately. It's well written with solid science facts but also shows a possible progression of life without bees. It's good, short enough for some of my kids who struggle with science and engaging.

Great informative read, even for early elementary students!
I am using this with first grader in my library to start our project-based learning about how to help save there bees. Great illustrations and facts, and the author writes in a clearly understandable way for little ones.

Great for the classroom!
Great book for learning about food chains and ecosystems. My students really enjoyed this read. I chose this book over the other ones because I felt like my students could relate to it the best. They enjoyed it and the illustrations/visuals are great!

Informative for children
Purchased for my niece who is afraid of bees. Through this book, she has gained a greater appreciation of bees and their role in nature.

You'd be surprised how important bees are!
I bought this book to use as a read-a-loud in my classroom and my students loved it! This is a great book to use when wanting to capture your student's attention, while teaching them about craft and informational texts. I never knew how important bees are! I recommend!

Fun and Accurate!
I bought two copies, one for my son and one for my niece. They are only 2 and 3, respectively, but love it nonetheless. Their parents are botanists/environmental chemists so they are used to this type of thing anyway. =) I paired the books with bumblebee nests made in a block of wood so the kids can read about the importance of bees and check to see if bees have made nests in the wood in the garden. Highly recommended!

Great for Earning Girl Scout Badge!
I loved this book. We read it to our Brownie Girl Scout Troop as information for the girls to earn their Bug Badge with. We loved learning the definition of a keystone species and my daughter has constantly reminded her brothers that honeybees are vital to the ecosystem ever since. Highly recommended!

Great book
Good book and lots of pretty illustrations. I especially like that the book includes definitions and additional information.

Kindergarten approval
Pages are large enough for good accurate Illustrations. The illustrations bring a 3D aspect to all the drawings including flowers petals, leaves, animal's fur and bee wings and fuzzy bodies. My students are completely enthralled as am I with the fabulous illustrations. However, I believe the "its critical" blue inserts take away from the "wow" factor. They could simply be included in the printed information section of on each page. I like the large print so I can read it upside down during a lesson. I do not understand the food chain arrows or colouring correspondences.

Bees book
It is probably my fault but I did not realise that this is a children's book. Perhaps others would realise this from the author or the series. However, as a children's book, it is informative and nicely illustrated.
