Karla McLaren of Energy work <=> Einstein of Physics
Great book. In it, you get:A) Two amazing aura exercises: grounding and cleansing.B) Three aura protection visualizationsC) An aura sentry systemD) An exercise to create useful images and to destroy harmful images in your aura, subconscious, or karmic pastE) An exercise to retrieve and rededicate energy you've grounded or destroyedF) A system to upgrade any relationship (burning old contracts/setting up paths of growth)G) Aura readingH) descriptions and exercises for each of the normal 7 chakras, and one for the 8th chakra.AND MORE.I've only gotten to the Sentry system. But, scanning through the rest of the book, I know that when I do the exercises, I'm going to be in for the ride of my life. Some inventions, epiphanies, and creations become "common sense" after 30 years or so, in the field they are launched. Darwin's "evolution". Einstein's "E=mc^2". Crick & Watson's "dual-helical DNA model". Apple Corporation's "Everyone wants a computer to use at home".I predict this for Karla McLaren's "Your Aura & Your Chakras: the Owner's Manual". Karla may not be the originator for these exercises, I don't know. I will say, however, that in 16 years of trying to implement literally h-u-n-d-r-e-d-s of authors' exercises, I haven't run into these before. Karla's book has been the most succinct and results-bearing from nearly $10,000 worth of other authors and trainings.I have nailed my sentiment to a 3-fold explanation: readability, practicality, results-oriented.Readability: she uses only common vernacular. If something needs to be described, she does not take for granted her audience members' prior knowledge or experience. Yet, she still makes it worthwhile for those members who are "read up" on the subject.Practicality: She gives specific steps for each exercise and descriptions of physical/mental/emotional phenomena one should experience if one does the exercises as written.Results-oriented: never have I come across a set of instructions and exercises that are geared from the get-go to impact your physiology and psyche. It may just be my level of practice, it may just be "my time" for these results. But I have been doing mental and energy exercises for about 16 years, everything from dynamic breathing to qigong, from taiji to yoga, from NLP to Creative Visualization, self-hypnosis, psychic voyages, astral travel, dreams, spiritual healing classes, reiki, you name it I probably have it or own a now-worked-through manual. I was at the point of just reading authors of various fields for their viewpoint on various phenomena; many of the exercises between those disciplines overlap. Then I read Karla McLaren's opus.I have only ONE Caveat: be practiced in visualization, and be familiar with some sort of energy work. As a trained scientific observer, I must admit that my familiarity with and use of visualization, energy work, and meditation probably catalyzed the process for me. But this does not change the unprecedented quickness of results. But, as I said before, in 16 years of energy-work, I hadn't come across these exercises before. My advice:1) Buy the book.2) Get ready to rock before you read it!

Wise and Practical
What a fantastic book on energy work. So much of the information out there on the aura and chakras has very little real understanding attached to it, but it is the opposite with McLaren. She educates us with her deep well of knowledge on energy work based on her own process, and the wisdom she's gained from it. I've done a good deal of research on the internet and have also gone to Sedona and done stuff there with the aura and chakras but this book finally gave me the real understanding of these things I've been looking for, and a solid intro into energy work. Thank you, Karla

Kinda woo-woo, but it works!
I personally love this book, however, I can understand why some people are shaking their heads. Firstly, I believe some of the language in here misleads people into misjudging the content as woo-woo. If you're familiar with psychological theories and social science research, you'll realize that nothing in this book is woo-woo. McLaren simply encourages visualization, which has been scientifically proven to enhance the ability to connect emotionally and process deeply. Some people were gawking at the idea of "creating a room in your head," but I personally don't see that harm in visualizing a physical place within your body so that you can feel safe and less overwhelmed by the fear/judgement of your emotions/thoughts. Secondly, the title of the book is a little misleading. Yes, the book talks about auras and chakras, but I believe it would be more fitting to have included "mindfulness."Also, I would like to correct some misunderstandings in a few reviews. McLaren does suggest you don't read the book IF!! you are not in a place where you're genuinely ready to be held accountable for your choices. For instance, being in an abusive relationship and not willing to let it go and move on. Or realizing there are toxic people in your life, and not willing to look honestly at how you contribute to ALLOWING those people effect your life (and not "they MAKE me feel/do X").This is a wonderful book if you're ready to make positive changes in your life, level-up your meditation routine, and gain a better understanding of energy and how energy effects your body. Changes take a leap of faith, people. Who cares if it sounds woo-woo if it works?

Your Aura &Your Chakras: The Owner's Manual
Order was speedily processed and delivered. This book was originally published a few years ago and this copy is a very nice reprint. The author addresses very easy mental exercises. I originally got this book during a very stressful time at my work which was going through yet another merger, with new bosses and a new location. Instead of going over the frustrations at work, I found using some of the mental exercises were very helpful to redirect my mind from churning over daily issues. This book is not 'magical', it's not scary, it's not particularly of any religious ritual or viewpoint, nothing to join or buy (after the book). It's really tradition-less, Some readers may be disappointed by that. But, for getting a usable technique to quiet the daily stress that accumulates, it was so useful to me that I lent it to a friend but never got it back, so I got this second copy which appears to be exactly like the first. The author has moved on in her personal life and mentions this in this new issue. This does not invalidate what I've found to be useful.

Serious energy work
I absolutely love this book. I think is practical, on point and very clear. It gives tools and precise introduction to develop a personal healing practice. It helped me specially on identifying my own energy and being aware of other people's energy. It also improved my reiki practice, concentration and visualization skills. Thank you so much Karla!
