It was a Christmas gift for my husband. he loved it. Beautiful pictures. if you like modern concept you will love this book.

This is a beautiful and inspirational book. Most of these homes are beyond my budget, but gives great ideas and an excuse to daydream.

Grant Kirkpatrick inspires us in his thought and work. The pictures are mesmerizing and a true page-turner. I highly recommend this book.

Contemporary architecture not few times is the search for intellectual goals as sustainability, flux diagrams, digital technology incorporation, among others; nevertheless most of the time they neglect the happiness and humanity those spaces should transmit. I am happy to say that the work shown in this volume is a marvelous example of not forgetting its humanity. Each home makes you feel them inhabited by kind and down to earth human beings. So different from most homes that appear in magazines that seem rather a symbol of status than a place to live. While in most cases those houses would feel like going to a work interview the homes here... they make you feel invited. Is evident the buildings required millions of dollars in their construction, is a guess by looking to the materials, location and craftsmanship; but rather I wonder what is that rock there in a garden from a living room and what means this sculpture in the courtyard and so. These homes are blooming with memories and the personality of the owners and the architect, whose words are quite illuminating too. I feel like I learned much reading this, and like I had travelled a bit to to these Californian homes.The only reason I am not rating higher this book is because in some parts (at least thrice) two descriptions for two different photographs are repeated. It seems is not an error in the Kindle app.
