Nikwax Cotton Proof, 1000ml, Waterproofing for Cotton, Polycotton, and Canvas, Adds Water Repellency

Used this to proof my jobman poly cotton blend work pants. My work pants are 100% not waterproof initially. Soaks up water like sand.I washed my pants per manufacturers instructions, then used the hand wash method with cotton proof. Bucket of hand hot water and 50ml of cotton proof. Soaked for 5 min, then mix to flip pants over, and soaked for an additional 5 min. Ran it in the dryer on the delicate cycle and then let it hang dry overnight.Made my pants water repellent. Do take note that this does not make my pants waterproof. I have rain pants for when I have to be outdoors in the rain. But this will help with brief showers, accidental water splashes and short walks between job sites. The coating also helps repel dust and stains so I can wash my work pants less often.Cotton proof liquid was thicker compared to their soft shell proof. So I had to mix it with a butter knife and shake well before pouring.

It seems to work properly. The blanket I used it on-which is used outside on my car-seems to repel water which is what I wanted.

This is a great product. My husband is a surveyor and he was in the rain and tall wet grass all day and stayed dry. He also said it cut the wind really well and it was 30 adn 40 MPH wind that day. If you do not do these extra steps the product won't work well. If you do these extra steps it works great!First we ran our washer with vinegar ( put 2 to 3 cups of vinegar in where liquid detergent goes and hot water to remove detergent and fabric softener build up through out my machine. It is in your machine even when you cannot see it. I hadn't used vinegar in awhile so we done this procedure twice. We washed my husbands clean pants from the closet with vinegar only (2 cups) on a long wash and no fabric softener. Actually we ran them a second time on a short wash with vinegar and then a rinse/spin only. Then we soaked his pants in a 5 gallon bucket of water with the product for a several hours. We dripped them out well and put them on a mini short rinse and spin. We dried them with HOT HEAT.It works!

wow, this works. i used this on my son's school all cotton hoodie and it made it water resistant, as advertised. it is still soft and comfortable to wear and smells pleasant to us. i did not put it through the dryer however. i simply hung dried it. my son was in a moderate rain and his shoes got wet, however his hoodie with this treatment stayed dry. good stuff. worth the price for sure.

This stuff is pretty amazing but it should be changed to COTTON RESISTANT I used this on my denim jeans and it just makes it harder to absorb water. Awesome for proofing your jeans to ride motorcycle and not carry so much rain with you. Recommend to anyone who is in a rainy state.

It works wonders with cotton/ cotton blend clothes alreadytreated with DWR from THE START from the factories.This product is for reapplying already DWR-ed clothes/ gearsDo not expect this cotton proof to make regular heavy cotton things into mil-spec'd rain gears.It kinda worked on my Pendelton canvas jacket.Just like me, experiment this product on your old cotton/ cotton-blend clothes.
