The Merchant Of Venice-Arden Shakespeare
N**)
Arden is the best
This is the Arden Shakespeare editions...and they are the best. They have a very detailed introduction and they have explanatory notes in each page. Very helpful if you are doing English literature or if you want to do a detailed study of Shakespeare's plays. And as for the condition of the book ...it came in pristine condition with no damage .

Arden Shakespeare series need no review. It is a class by itself. Students of English literature know this.

Both the introduction and the notes for this edition of The Merchant of Venice are as useless as those for the recent Arden Othello
One of the few truly disappointing editions in the Arden Shakespeare series. Both the introduction and the notes for this edition of The Merchant of Venice are as useless as those for the recent Arden Othello, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, and Hamlet are insightful. I hope the introduction and notes for this edition are soon replaced by a different one (an Arden 3b Merchant), as was the case with Ayanna Thompson's Arden 3b Othello (replacing the Honigman introduction to the Arden 3a Othello which, for all its problems, was much better than the introduction to this edition of The Merchant). There are no excerpts from any of Shakespeare's sources, which are often found in other critical editions of Shakespeare's plays.
