This is the best kitchen appliance ever!!!
Do you ever want to make something in a hurry? Do you often find that you only have bread in the pantry and a few items in the fridge for dinner? This is your product! I bought this about a month ago and I love it. This device only takes about 1.5-2.0 minutes to cook and you can put just about anything in here!! My favorite thing to make for me and my husband is what we call..."the mini pizza"Here is the recipe:2 pieces of bread (per mini pizza)Ragu spaghetti saucecheesemeat (we like salami)Butter one side of each piece of bread. Put the butter side down on the grill. Spoon out some Ragu sauce onto the bread. Then take your cheese of choice and sprinkle the cheese onto the Ragu sauce. Take your salami (or any meat you want) and lay it on top of the cheese. Put the other piece of bread (butter side up) on top of the meat and close the lid.Soooo good!!!The lid takes a little bit of strength to close but don't worry, you are not going to ruin the mini pizza or sandwich. Just keep pressing down. Wait until the green light comes on and you are all set!! Enjoy. This was the best 20 dollars I have spent. We use it at least once to twice a week...if not more. I also put just cheese in the sandwich. My husband likes to put a bunch of lunchmeat, cheese and mustard in it. No matter what you decide, it will be good. This is also safe for kids to use. (with supervision) It is easy and fun to make. The cleanup is a little annoying I have to admit. The bread crumbs and cheese get melted on the side and into the little crevices and it makes it a little difficult to clean. But all you need is a paper towel and you pretty much wipe it down and you are done. You will not regret buying this!! So, go for it!! Get it and make your future favorite snack this week!!Thanks for reading!! Take care.

Great for lightly browned sandwiches and grilled cheese!
This is a great product, easy to use (green light comes on when it is ready) and easy to wipe clean. Because of the nonstick, you don't even need to spray butter or put butter on the outside of the bread. You can make two sandwiches at one time. The heating is perfect for a lightly browned sandwich. When you close your sandwich in on the grill, it will smash down the edges and the middle at a diagonal. The diagonal then provides you a nice line to cut your sandwich in half. Warning: Do not overstuff your sandwich or it will leak, especially cheese. Keep a 1/4 inch border from the edge of the bread clear for best results when it smashes down. Some of the other reviews mentioned that the plastic clasp may break. I can see how that might happen, but after several months of careful use, we have not had an issue. We highly recommend slicing a boiled egg and putting it on the sandwich with just a hint of butter on the inside part of the bread. So yummy and simple!

Gets the job done, but very difficult to clean.
This device works to make delicious hot sandwiches with any sort of filling you like, and it doesn't burn them. So, no complaints on that score. The sandwiches usually come out easily (every once in a while one will stick and bit and have to be pried off with a spatula). The pads are nonstick, and easy to wipe out.The problem is, the device's instructions only direct you to wipe off the nonstick pads after use. But reasonable use includes cheese, which oozes out of the sides and sticks to the plastic rim around the pads. It even drips down behind across the metal guard for the power cord. And the device isn't supposed to get wet.So the only way to actually clean it is to scrub the heck out of the plastic rim with a steel wool pad, and just try to rinse carefully, and let it dry well afterward. And hope that doesn't break it. Because you certainly can't just leave the cheese stuck there, and it sticks like cement. A normal scrubbing sponge won't even get it off.As long a you understand what you have to deal with, and the potential risks, you can't beat the price and functionality (but put it on a plate when you use it, because it will drip cheese, oils, etc). The manufacturers need to be forced to clean 10 of these after they've been used to make a round of grilled cheese sandwiches for a family, so perhaps they'll understand the design flaws.I think this is a good example of this style of sandwich press. I haven't seen anything designed substantially different -- the cleaning issue is an issue with every press of this type, not just this brand.

Simple, cheap - but really great toasties
At $20 this toastie maker is excellent value.ProSo cheap it is almost disposableIt seals sandwiches closed which is great for stuffed sandwiches - this is not a pannini pressNon-stick makes clean up easy as melting cheese etc. will ooze out as it meltsConsThe teflon coating is very thin so look after it - no metal, ever, for freeing stuck sandwiches - always use a wooden or plastic spatula. (Seriously - no exceptions!)This is my 2nd unit of these. The first (which I had and used heavily for over 3 years) I damaged the teflon by not following the rule above. It still works just sandwiches don't come free easily.Best advice - use margarine on the outside top and bottom sides of the bread for best toastiness. Only use margarine not butter and make sure the margarine is the kind you can cook with (not low or no fat etc. it will say on the side if you can cook with it)
