Beauty in Words
I love watching birds! I have two bird feeders outside my office window for this very reason. I also trust Billy Collins when it comes to recommending books - he writes the intro. A coupling of beautiful words with beautiful drawings. Soothing to have on your shelf, because you can pull it down and read yourself to a moment of serenity.

book in excellent condition
Although listed as used , the book was in " new" condition! I appreciated the packaging - the book was sealed in plastic inside a sturdy cardboard package. The only negative was when I checked tracking , it looked like the book sat for 8 days in a USPS facility. But finally arrived toward the end of the "expected delivery" time. The drawings are lovely, but I like the choice of poems better in the book edited by Ted Kooser and Judith Kitchen titled The Poets Guide to the Birds. But with such a good price I was lucky to buy both books!

Well organized, Happy as a Lark
Beautiful illustrations, known and unknown poets. I keep it by my bedside. The table of contents is nice in that I can look for a particular bird, or poet, or piece. It suits a mood or a curiosity. Under each illustration is an infusion of information about each bird, marrying the arts or the essences of nature with the sciences of the bird to explore moreso. I find it a nice way to start or end my day in beauty, thought, connection to the more we all are than the hubbub that will inevitably come in between. Great find.

Paper quality is excellent, and type fonts pleasing
The book contains a large number of poems, ranging from the famous (e.g., Wallace Stevens's "Sunday Morning") to less familiar work by contemporary poets. The standard of literary quality is consistently high. The wide range of birds, environments, moods, and incidents presented means that the book should have something to offer everyone, from the dedicated birdwatcher to the fond parakeet-owner. Paper quality is excellent, and type fonts pleasing.

Beautiful Book
There are beautiful color paintings of the birds within the paperback. I was afraid that the paperback would be entirely black and white inside, but it is with color. The book was in excellent shape in the condition described. It arrived on schedule with no problems.

Beautiful illustrations
I gave this product as a gift to 2 people. Its illustrations were beautiful. The poetry was fine. Not as nice as the illustrations.

Love the contents tons more than the presentation.
Not exactly what I was expecting, and printed in a peculiarly extravagant way. But I love the poems, and was immediately grabbed by the one addressed to the farmer who had killed some birds he regarded as pests. That, and many others, are punchy and use language and structure in a really appealing way.

Winged Poems
This is a beautifully crafted books. The paintings of birds are the main attraction. I found the poems uneven. Many dealt with the tragic end of birds, there wasn't enough true celebration of these amazing winged creatures. One takes a chance on a collection like this because the choice of poems is personal. I trust Billy Collins entirely for his own poetry. I wasn't crazy about his choices for this volume.
