I bought this book for my twelve year old son, but also found that it is helpful for me. On page 51 I found a mnemonic device to help me remember the geological time scale, information that is essential for my Historic Geology class.My son told me that if you remember the word "HOMES" you'll remember the five Great Lakes, Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie and Superior. This is in the book. I'm in my mid-forties, and all the years I went to school I never realized something so simple can be so helpful.There are other mneomic devices in this book that will surely help anyone. For example if you can't remember where to place eating utensils when you set the table, there is this: left has four letters and so does fork. Right has five letter and so does spoon and knife.This book is helpful for anyone, child or adult who needs help in remembering a process to accomplish a task. This is a book worth buying.

I had originally gotten this for our daughters, but I have to admit I have been reading it more frequently and enjoying it myself. I wish that this had been on my bookshelf when I was in school, it would have saved me so much time in trying to find ways to memorize many groups of things that I had found bland and unmemorable at that time.Everything is nicely laid out by categories, making it very user-friendly and quick to reference topics of interest. While not every subject in this book may be relevant to everyone, I feel that everyone will find something in this book that is useful to them and help them to feel just a little bit smarter, even if it is done with the help of some creative mnemonics.

I love these types of books. Keeps the mind young. Mnemonics has always been my preferred way to remember different subject matter.

Whish I had it when I wad un school

Some of the basic mnemonics were not included. Some of the others were not very helpful… Didn't expect so many science terms. Do those guys actually study? … or do they just do rote memorization!

If you want to learn a few memory tricks, this is the book for you. It's written in a fun way, that should appeal to most people, I would think.

Its a collection of many and mostly relates to American history etc.
