Black Panther: The Revolutionary Art of Emory Douglas

As an individual who grew up in San Francisco during the 1960s, I depended on the graphic interpretations of Emory Douglas to translate to my young mind the more complicated aspects of the struggle. His visuals told stories about our lives. Now that I am writing my doctoral dissertation, which focuses on the Black art and culture of the San Francisco Bay Area, this book is one of my sources. It has been very useful,considering that Emory Douglas is one of the three main subtopics of my research. The book represents the location of a missing link in the history of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Very informative and provides great incite. Is giving greater scope and context to my understanding and appreciation of the Blank Panther Party for Self-Defense. Helps expand my knowledge past ‘Seize The Time’.

Perfect! This book was exactly what i was looking for. I purchased it for my hubby for our anniversary. He's borrowed this book four times from our public library because he couldn't find it at our local Barnes and Nobel. So when i found it on Amazon for such a great price I had to get it!

This deserves 6+ stars. If you have an interest in the intersection of politics and art, and would like insight into an intense period for both, you must not go past this. I love it so much I have bought additional copies as gifts for friends. The art is stunning, print quality is very high - this is outstanding.

I met Emory in May here in Sweden where he talked about The Black Panters and show pictures of his work. So I just decided that I MUST have this book. And I found it!
