Polyurethane Extra Durable Varnish 2.5 litre Matt

A far better varnish than the usual polyurethane yacht varnish I have used previously. Sadolin varnish gives a great finish, has no fumes, dries quickly and brushes wash out in soapy water. For all interior wood varnishing, I shall only use this in future. Highly recommended.

An easy product to deal with and a very pleasing result!. You can use a roller or brush and it self levels- just thin enough to paint with. It dries quickly. Runs are easy to deal with. Best to do multiple thin coats with light sanding in between. I'm super happy with the end result! A very predictable product that's easy to use and maintain. I am impressed and will continue to use.

It used to be some years ago that varnishes for wood were thick, smelly gloopy things with a typical high gloss finish – and were not especially effective. More recently, advanced products have appeared that offer more modern finishes like satin, are easy to use and produce wonderful results where the wood is protected preserved, and looks fabulous. This product from Sadolin is typical. My wife recently saved and saved so that she could replace the doors in our hallway. I thought that coating and sealing the bare doors was the least I could do and I chose this product. It was also delivered free with a very competitive price. Initially I used a slightly thinned matt coat of the same product and then built up at least three more layers using this with the satin finish. I applied a gentle sand between coats and also removed the door handles. The varnish is the perfect consistency and goes on very easily. Sometimes as the coats build it is difficult to see where one is up to but the gentle sanding and good light helps with this. Although there is some odour, this is fairly low key and not especially intrusive even in the house. Each coat dries quickly and although there were quite a few doors to coat, I found by the time I had finished the last, then the first was ready for another coat. I have a hobby of building hardwood plinths for my scale models. I used to spray these with clear lacquers but now I much prefer to use this varnish and a good quality brush and coat them by hand. Please see some pics attached of my efforts. One shows the finished oak doors and the other a new plinth under final coating. Highly recommended, and from now on it’s definitely my varnish of choice.

Excellent coverage, finish and drying time. I used 10l and did 3 coats on a large lounge, hallway, and 3 bedrooms. Durable with a nice satin sheen. Drys perfectly clear and really makes the timber pop. No milkiness like I've suffered with other brands The first coat going down feels like hard work, but the following coats fly on. You have to work quickly , drips and streaks left on the surface will show, but applying with a roller was easy. I used other products and this is by far my favourite. (Wood stain. Was Grain Guard)

I am very satisfied with this product. It dry quickly with very little smell (important for indoor use) and gives excellent results.
