Seems Expensive but well worth it
This is an exceptional fish sauce IMO. Usually with other sauces I give the bottle a couple of good shakes but not this one. Just a drop or two infuses the soup with a wonderful, deep, rich flavor. My wife thought I was crazy spending so much $$$ on a bottle of fish sauce but after tasting it the first time she changed her mind. This sauce falls into the same class as lobster. We just use it occasionally when we just need something extraordinary to lift us out of the mundane

Love the smoked Umami enhanced flavor
This is not your run of the mill fish sauce. Sure you can add to Pad Tai and othe recipes. But be prepared for a richer and more umami flavor profile

Haven’t found where I want to use it.
Love the brand and in particular the Phamily Reserve fish sauce. Unfortunately I have yet to find the best use for this version. I’ll keep looking for where it fits in my cooking arsenal.

A hyper-refined, excellent fish sauce for a price
I will be the first to say that this product is not for everyone. Phamily Reserve (a play on the name of the founder) is extremely great, but at a great cost. For most, a typical fish sauce will suffice, especially the excellent regular, much cheaper Red Boat fish sauce. But if you're trying to make, for example, an exemplary and authentic thai table sauce with peppers, you will be right at home here. You have to decide for yourself if you'll appreciate it.

Salty and strong smell
I use fish sauce daily for cooking and eat raw. This one is way too salty and the smell, taste is not good. Too over priced for the quality.

Worth a try
Well worth it. More subtle and nuanced than the 40N, perhaps more concentrated. Definitely worth comparison.

Does not smell or taste like fish sauce
I have used the regular Red Boat fish sauce for years and love it. I was intrigued by this product and ordered it when I ran out of fish sauce. I know you are not supposed to smell fish sauce (the regular one does not bother me at all) but this one smelled like old socks. I added it to a stir fry and it had a very distinct taste, not umami AT ALL. Maybe my bottle went bad but it seemed sufficiently sealed with wax. Save your money and stick to the regular stuff, it's so good!

Red Boat is the best fish sauce brand, period!
Red Boat fish sauces are the best! I always get the bigger bottle version in store. But this Phamily Reserve 50N version is a much more gourmet version, aged in bourbon and maple syrup barrels. There's so much more depth in flavor. It's more concentrated. And I don't usually see this version in store. I am literally in love! As simple as crushed garlic+fresh lime juice+ fresh chili or chili flakes+cane sugar+Red Boat+ cilantro. This is good with anything!
