Recently, I reviewed Grandpa’s Original Pine Tar Soap. In that review I talked it up quite a lot and even referred to it as “the measuring stick” for all soap. Well, after my last few showers, I have found something that has broken the measuring stick. It is Craftsman Soap Company’s Activated Charcoal Bar Soap.I first read about this soap in an article on Outside Magazine’s website featuring charcoal bathing products for men. Their recommendation really caught my attention and after bathing in pine tar for a long time, the thought of bathing in charcoal seemed appealing, refreshing and something I had to try.Upon pulling this brick of soap out of its simple and beautiful packaging, I was struck by the scent of charcoal. I hadn’t even applied it to my body yet but I could feel my heart speed up and the hair follicles on the back of my neck and shoulders start to grow like I was becoming some sort of ravenous werewolf creature.The smell of this soap is so invigorating that it not only opens the senses but it enhances them. In fact, it didn’t just open my third eye, it opened a fourth and fifth eye that I didn’t know I had! I then went about my day, not walking but levitating, decimating every feeble mortal challenge the world could throw at me all while solving thousands of Diophantine equations and writing a new top secret programming language for a laser missile defense system on the moon. Needless to say, Craftsman Soap Company’s Activated Charcoal Bar Soap didn’t just help me reach my maximum potential, it showed me that it was a barrier that needed to be shattered.

The soap was fine, I did enjoy the gritty texture, it felt nice on my skin. But there was no notable difference in my skin from using it, and the bar didn't last long at all!! I was extra careful with storage of it between uses and it lasted maybe 3 weeks. Nothing wrong with the soap at all but its just not justifiable for the short life span for me.

I struggle with oily and acne skin. I figured I would give this a shot after reading reviews I never turn down possible opportunities for change. Whether good or bad. First night I used it, My skin felt super clean, as you wash it off with water you'll start to notice it doesn't feel soapy but rather lathers your skin and then feels like there are zero oils on your face. You MUST moisturize after using this. Dont get me wrong, I liked the smell of the product, I like how it feels so far, i only use it three times a week because I think using it every day will dry my skin too much and Dry skin is terrible for acne since it causes it to inflame even more. So after I wash I soak my face in lotion, my skin looks clean and clear the next day. Didn't give five stars just because I still barely started using it and don't notice drastic change yet. But so far so good, I will continue to use !

This stuff is fantastic! I have dry/oily skin and am always, always broken out. Around my time of the month, it gets worse. Coving up with makeup doesn't exactly help, either... Nothing has helped for more than a week at a time, but this soap has. The results are pretty much immediate, as well. Friends even noticed the difference. I'll be buying it again when I run low. So glad I found this.

I love this soap! I have been using it to wash my face for about 2 weeks. I can already tell it's making a difference. It really cleans my pores but doesn't dry out my face.

Love this brand of soap. The bar lasts a long time, the scent is pleasant, and the product is natural and local.

very messy. drips charcoal all over my tub. and who knows if it even really works. i dont like it because its too messy.
