The hammer is a great toy.
My sin was given the hammer for his birthday. It was very intriguing to him as soon as he opened it. Ince we got the batteries in he was FULL of smiles and giggles. There are 3 modes, off button, music, learning. What I am calling the learning is when it's set to the book. Its different than a lot of toys. In my opinion it is better than a lot of toys that try to teach. Everytime you hit the hammer it counts the next digit up. This is allowing them the physical action to hear the ascending digits. It's better than pushing a button and hearing the number 10. They bang and it starts counting. The colors are fun. The rattle is a pleasant sound. Not a super annoying noise. The music is a good volume and the songs are pleasant to hear. I ha ent yet had to say turn that darn thing off.The quality is great. It's not a flimsy cheap plastic. I was worried with the banging it would fall apart or crack. That's not going to be the case. It's going to be a fun motor skill to learn for my son. I have 4 kids and wish I knew about these toys 11 years ago.

Fun and different
Baby loves this toy, we had for two months and she was 9 months old, she didn’t care for it much. After a while she started to bang it against stuff and laugh, it’s awesome. The music is fabulous but there is no volume control which is terrible. It’s rather very loud if the house is quiet but it is okay if people are around and there is ambient. I don’t recommend it for young babies, the volume is jarring. Additionally it requires hand control. I would label this as 9+ months.

The favorite gift.
My grandbaby was 9 months when he got this little treasure for Christmas. He immediately dropped all other toys and played with it. As he saw more toys he would play with them for a minute and go back to his hammer. This has quickly become his favorite toy. The hammer will sing songs which can be great when he is fussy as he will stop and listen for a moment and then get distracted by the hammer. He likes to chew on it, he likes to watch the eyes change and the loves the sounds when you hit the hammer. This toy goes everywhere with us, It is easy to put in a diaper bag, in the car seat, it is durable , easy to clean and also bright so easy to find. Also if he drops it, well it makes noise so you can hear it to pick it up. Great great great toy

My infant son loves this toy
I don't get the appeal of this toy, but my son (~ 1 years old) absolutely loves this and thinks the sounds are hilarious.Pros:Very durable - has been dropped and hit against objects many times without breaking. Gets a lot of use and still works as if it was new.Three different sound setting - either makes a noise or counts when hammer head is pushed in or plays a song when the top hammer button is pressed.Eyes change when the hammer is hit.Cons:The sound is pretty loud with no option to lower it.Although durable, the hammer is hard and not recommended to play hit others.

Super cute
What a fun little toy! This toy makes the funniest noises when “banged” and makes my 1 year old smile when looking at its face. I must admit, I get a kick out of the toy hammer too!

On the heavy side
Cute toy, but it's quite heavy & the handle is very thick, which makes it hard for my baby to hold in one hand
