Mixed Thoughts But Continuing Forward
I find the storyline interesting and the tales well written, but... It still bothers me that the tram got over Shiny’s original “mistake” of killing their other partners, and put their complete trust in the thing, especially after they found out it is natural and expected for this alien to betray alliances. The level of naivety was incredible! At least one of them should have had strong reservations. So, I don’t identify as closely with these characters as I might. But, I still enjoy the mystery of alien discovery and hope for some kind of redemption in future tales. I will read the next installment.

Last decent adventure for this team
After a nose dive in the previous book, the series picks up again here. McCloskey is good at describing new aliens and their environments, and the team is good at figuring them out. However, I cannot give 5 stars because a lot of it is pointless and never used for anything (I write this having read two books beyond this one). As of the 8 books McCloskey has written at this date (this one being number 6), this is the last one that is any good.

Becoming repetitive
Although the character and environment development continues to keep me interested the story line is becoming predictable. Telisa a finds new world, engages new alien species, finds new artifacts she can use, and repeat. I'm waiting for the next big story line. I'll keep going only to see what happens if Magnus and Telisa get back together. Time to expand the story.

It keeps me guessing
The author anticipates the reader’s questions and nitpick and answers them. All the alien races are different from Terrans and each other. The series keeps me coming back for more.

More of what is best about this series
Another new alien race explored through the lens of it's artifacts. And more insight into the thought processes of the vine creatures. The character development seems a little uneven and sometimes implausible. The xeno biology and details of the new alien glider race are really fun.

I really like Mr's McCloskey's PIT universe and all of The prevoius ...
A bit of a let down. I really like Mr's McCloskey's PIT universe and all of The prevoius books from the series weren't leaving me with a aftertaste... Having a big respect to writing cause of my own profession I still find the book too short and simply a kind of a wrong attitude towards the readers. Seriously. What for? I would love to hear what made this book so ehh short for one and problematic for two (hanging the same price tag as others though) from the Author.

Could be great but is quite entertaining
Although I have learned to like the characters from PIT the great work is in the making of the extraterrestrial beings and the plot and characters in general are not superb but the story line is entertaining and has it's appeal. I like it.

PIT continues to find strange, exciting stuff!!
A sensible follow on the string of stories. Left me wondering where they will go next. The aliens are odd and non-human enough to be puzzling and lead us to try and help understand them. Strange aliens, strange technology, and strange adventures... Good stuff!!

After a great start in the earlier stories (excluding The Trilisk Revolution)
Unsatisfyingly simplistic. After a great start in the earlier stories (excluding The Trilisk Revolution), here we have the principle characters acting out of character, almost to the point of idiocy. Emotions drive actions across the board; which left me thinking the aliens should put humanities saviors out of their misery. From this point onward I will go back to reading something written for older teenagers and above. This could have become an epic, similar to Honor Harrington.

Another good read with lots of twist and turns I am now on the next book in this series.

I rather like the series as a whole so far
I rather like the series as a whole so far, there have been some good books along the way. However this one felt like wheel spinning and leaves you hanging at the end which isn't great for a mediocre book.Given that the price isn’t high, I’ll try the next book when it’s available but unless it improves dramatically over this one, I doubt I’ll continue to read the series.
