Pet Doorbell Mat System

I called the seller to get help setting this up because the instructions are pathetic. I never got a return call, hence the 4 star rating instead of 5. So I decided to fiddle with it and finally got it going. There are a multitude of chime settings, and I was delighted to find part of the song "Memories" from the musical "Cats."I purchased this because my teenage kitten has a gentle voice and I can't hear her very well when she's on the outside of the energy efficient door between the kitchen and enclosed porch, and winter is coming. I don't want her stuck out there in the cold.My older cat is loud enough for me to hear when she wants to come in. So of course, cats being cats, the one whom I can hear immediately decided that it's fun to play the song. She enthusiastically jumps on the mat every time she goes in or out, looking very pleased with herself each time.The cat for whom I wanted the mat refuses to touch it and leaps over it in both directions no matter how I position it. That is until yesterday, when the temperature never got out of the 50's F, and suddenly I hear the song being played and the older cat is inside. So it's clear my kitten knows how to use the mat and chooses when she will and when she won't use it. I consider this a great victory.Which means that, overall, this has been a successful purchase so far (only had it about a week). Now it remains to be seen how long this product will last. It's completely indoors, so no weather issues.For over $100, it had better hold up a long, long time!!

I love the idea of this doggy doormat. It does have some drawbacks to it though. It needs to be bigger and it needs to be more sensitive to the touch when the dog steps on it. There are areas on the mat that do not respond to the dog stepping on it---the sound does not go off. This is my 3rd Doorbell Mat that I have purchased and wish it was more durable. The wire came loose on the first one that attaches to the mat and the second one just went out. I had each one for maybe 8 months. For the price of almost $80.00, it should be more durable and more responsive or have a better return policy. I do love this item. I have 4 dogs in my house and they have to go downstairs to the basement to go to the door to go outside. Since this system has the intercom, I am sure to always hear it when the dogs step on it to go outside. Very easy to use and next to no training---just place it in front of the door under a thin rug.

* Updated review, after 2nd attempt to get refund the seller did contact us and send a new mat. When this didn't work he did some trouble shooting with us and sent a different piece. We now have a working door bell. I do wish the doorbell didn't continuously chime if pet is stepping on it but otherwise it is working for what we needed it for now.Do not waste your money. I was very happy to see that a product like this is sold as my pet recently lost their voice from surgery. When the doorbell arrived, the pressure mat did not work. Following proper procedures the seller has ignored my request for a replacement or refund. Buyer beware. I'm sure if it actually works it's great, but expect to throw your money away if it doesn't.

Our doggie lallygags outside and many times we have then gotten sidetracked and have forgotten her outside. Now since being old, she won't bark nor scratch the door to let us know she is ready to come back in. In the cold weather we couldn't have her forgotten and literally freeze to death. This mat is very pricey for the size [approx. 8" x 10"], but I believe this is not mass produced by made by seller in own home. The reason we purchased this mat, over a cheaper one, was the cheaper one only had 1 volume, and this one has MANY ringtones and 4 volumes. We have placed the mat under a regular size outdoor door mat to protect it from harsh weather; and we put the transmitter in a ziplock bag to protect it too. This mat has worked out very well for us, and save our doggie from being forgotten outside. Thanks for the mat!

I ordered two of these for my small dog and cat around 3 months ago. One works great and one worked for about a month then quit working so I changed the batteries . This did help but it didn’t work right; the alarm would go off and not stop so I would have to unplug it for several hours then plug it back in. Now it doesn’t work at all. I guess I at least have one that works. So buy at your own risk!

Mechanically, it worked as described, although sometimes it wouldn't trigger when my 11# cat walked over it. It was not excessively loud to me as others have said, though I have excellent hearing. However, after the first 2 days, my cat started purposely avoiding it, as if some trait (squishiness, noise in the transmitter signal the cat could here??!!) was training him away from using it. I contacted the seller & he called me on the phone. Not sure how a seller gets my phone number. After a bit of an argument, he agreed to accept a return, but did not offer to send a pre-paid return label. I also had to argue with him to get him to confirm the return address.

This pet doorbell mat works great! My 11 pound cat had been scratching at the front door to come inside. He shredded the weatherstripping around the door. Within 2 days after I installed the pet doormat, my cat understood he only needed to walk across - or sit down on - the mat. When he heard the ring tone, he knew the door was about to open.It is easy to set up. I put the pet doorbell mat under a large carpeted door mat to protect it. I read other comments that were concerned about the small size of the mat. That is not a problem. In fact, it is better because it allows one to avoid stepping on it when walking into or out of the house. That means the ring tone does not sound so it preserves the battery use.One caution: My Bengal cat enjoys the power of setting off the ring tone so much, that he sometimes walks across it every few minutes, even when the door is ajar and he can come inside. I have to put it away until it is needed. I hope the novelty wears off soon!!!
